SONAM WANGCHUK AND HIS WIFE GETS A TUMULTUOUS WELCOME IN LADAKH
Says : Ladakh will move forward with unity, dialogue, and positive change.





The climate change leading activist, an IITian, renowned among the people of his union territory and the country even at the global level Sonam Wangchuk who was released by the ministry of Home affairs after being in Jodhpur jail for nearly six months under NSA received a tumultuous reception in Ladakh, his motherland for which he had been relentlessly struggling since months to grant Leh, Ladakh status of schedule 6 , by bringing it under this schedule for the good and well being of the people of the state who had been struggling hard since a long time.
After being released from Jodhpur jail Sonam Wangchuk and his wife got a magnificent welcome by thousands of the people of Leh and Ladakh, all eager to hear him and his wife and majority of them though extremely jubilant also in tears.
The iconic leader had no words to express his heartiest gratitude for his people including those who had been with him during his struggle, thick and thin.
“ Sonam Wangchuk expressed his gratefulness and sincere gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from the cross section of the people while he was behind bars and emphasized the need for a positive and constructive path forward for Ladakh leading it to prosperity and self reliance.
Shedding light in the current situation of his state , himself and the country, Wangchuk said that he was feeling immensely good and deeply moved by the warm reception acknowledged from the people. He stressed that the future should focus on cooperation and mutual understanding so that all sides can move forward in a win–win situation.
Highlighting the past happenings and experiences the climate change activist of world fame Wangchuk acknowledged that Ladakh had faced setbacks but expressed hope that change has already begun adding further that the people of the state who were feeling under tremendous pressure, of backwardness now expect progress and a new direction. He also hoped that circumstances would not require further protests in the future, though he added that such decisions would depend on the situation if the need arises.
Wangchuk further stated that he holds no bitterness about past events, emphasizing that he always prefers to look ahead toward positive transformation and collective progress.
Addressing the situation of two leaders currently in jail and others facing legal cases, he said they too deserve justice and should emerge with their names cleared. Drawing a metaphor from his own experience, he said that just as the sun has risen again for him, he hopes the same will happen for them as well.
He also praised senior Ladakhi leader Tsering Dorjay Lakrook, calling him not only the “Iron Man of Ladakh” but also a “diamond” whose dedication and strength have inspired many.
Wangchuk acknowledged the relentless efforts made by the Apex Body Leh and the Kargil Democratic Alliance, along with the people of Ladakh who have contributed to the movement and supported the cause.
He extended special thanks to the lawyers who provided legal support and also expressed heartfelt gratitude to his wife for standing by him during difficult times.
Concluding his remarks, Wangchuk reiterated his hope that Ladakh will move forward with unity, dialogue, and positive change.
