Patients allegedly not receiving treatment in the absence of implementation of Ayushman service

In Chinyalisaur, Uttarkashi, Garhwal, Uttarakhand like many other parts of Uttarakhand the Ayushman service is completely defunct with the patients not getting sny medical expenses related reprieved. Ayushman is the flagship isurance scheme of the prime minister Narendra Modi which claims to give five lakh minimum insurance facility in medical treatment to those who avail this facility applicable to all in Uttarakhand.

A detailed letter in this regard has been sent to the prime minister’s office complaining about a senior officer at the Community Health Centre of Chinyalisaur for not implementing this scheme , thus making rid, the patients of the lower middle and lowest ebb of the society of Ayushman medical insurance facility. As a result, the poor patients are returning back without seeking the medical aid in view of the Ayushman service lying defunct since the last six months even more.
According to an RTI information there has been no appointment or Ayushman Mitra or Yojna Karmi at Chinyalisaur for the last several months asa result of which Card Verification,Treatment Approval,Claim Processing,Beneficiary Registration and Assistance etc are completely closed. Many patients are returning to the hospital after not being able to start treatment. Locals say that the scheme, which was launched to serve poor families, is facing neglect in Chinyalisaur. According to villagers—
Ayushman workers have not been appointed, No regular inspections are being conducted, Even inspection books are not available.

This is being considered serious administrative negligence. Villagers allege: “Officials took the Prime Minister’s scheme lightly.”

The indifference of the officials clearly shows that they do not take the Prime Minister’s plan seriously and are allowing it to run as a joke.”

The Medical Officer in Charge told the CMO in writing that the Medical Officer in Charge CHC Chinyalisaur, in his official letter, has directly held the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Uttarkashi responsible for not appointing the Ayushman worker.

It also came to light in the RTI that in CHC Chinyalisaur, the record of even a single patient who benefited from the Ayushman scheme in the last one and a half years is not available.

The health minister of Uttarakhand should take serious note of this grievance and personally intervene to set right the situation forthwith with taking immediate remedial measures in permanent basis incuding punishing the guilty for negligence and apathy towards the poor and hapless patients.
