Uttarakhand Governor Lt General to be sworn in on 15 th September. His appointment will boost the morale of Ex servicemen to the core

The eighth governor of Uttarakhand Lt General ( retired) Gurmeet Singh’s, appointment has boosted the morale of ex service men of Uttarakhand to a great extent, especially when majority of soldiers and officers of Uttarakhand are serving in Indian Army and defence forces for the last several decades. In Uttarakhand 12 % voters belong to Army families.

Having served in Indian Army for four decades PVSM, AVSMn VSM, Lt General Gurmeet Singh is, considering himself to be lucky for having accorded an opportunity to serve the land of abode of God’s ” DEV BHOOMI”, from where he has been commissioned four decades ago at NDA, Dehradun.

Extremely jubilant, the new governor of Uttarakhand will be sworn in at Raj Bhawan on 15 th September, after which he will reveal his priorities in terms of serving the new state in his capacity of its Governor. The chief secretary of Uttarakhand S. S. Sindhu will moderate the proceedings of the swearing in ceremony.

Having retired from Indian Army after his meritorious service in various important capacities for four decades , Lt General Gurmeet Singh received four prestigious President’s awards including two chief of the army commendation awards.

He has been credited for being the deputy chief of the Army Staff, Adjutant General and 15 Corps Commander and director of military operations of Chinese affairs etc.

A graduate of National Defence Academy and defence services staff a highly learned officer , Lt General Gurmeet Singh has sought two M Phil degrees from Chennai and Indore universities and there after qualifying a Phd Degree ( Doctorate) from Chennai in Smart Power for National Security Dynamics.

He completed his schooling from Punjab Sainik School Kapurthala.

Uttarakhand is indeed proud to have such a highly intellectual dignified officer of Indian Army who served there for forty long years in various significant and challenging positions.

A specialist in international and Chinese affairs, Uttarakhand governor Lt General Gurmeet Singh has outstanding knowledge of Uttarakhand as he has served in Banbasa from 1996 to 1999 and passed NDA from Dehradun in his early days.

The morale of the soldiers and officers serving in border districts of Uttarakhand and the para military forces will enhance to the core on his appointment as Uttarakhand Governor say experts.
