71 year old Sanatani advocate of SC throws shoes at the CJI, Mr. Gawai, released by the police thereafter after Registrar General’s orders

Probably in the history of the apex court of India it is for the very first time that a chief justice of Supreme Court was insulted by throwing of shoes on him by an advocate and he in response, showing extreme generosity and kindness, by – instead of taking stringent legal and judicial action against the defaulter – preferring to spare him by not only not let any case be registered against him but also made him go scot free with his shoes and documents etc returned to him.
Today while the proceedings in the apex court were on, a 71 year old senior lawyer registered with the bar believed to be a staunch hindu protagonist threw shoes towards the Chief Justice B.R.Gavai who was immediately caught by the security staff of the supreme Court and handed over to the Delhi police for initiating further necessary action. There was commotion all around.
He was questioned in police custody for three hours .
On interrogation the 71 year old Advocate of supreme Court was found in possession of a paper on which was written : Mera Sandesh Har Sanatani Ke Liye Hai, Sanathan Dharam Ka Apmaan Nahi Sahega Hindustan read the note.
It may be recalled that a according to the Delhi police version the 71 year old lawyer was not happy with the remarks of the CJI during the recent hearing of a Lord Vishnu Idol in Khaju Rao Temple Complex in Madhya Pradesh.
The timings of this unfortunate incident was 11.35 AM on Monday inside the Supreme Court when the chief justice was hearing the case.
The Delhi police and security staff immediately caught him and investigations continued for three hours.
However, after the SC Registrar general asked DP not to register any case against the earring advocate, his shoes and documents were returned to him and he released forthwith.
The leader of the opposition in the upper house, and Congress chief veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge while reacting on the attack with shoes on the chief ef justice wrote on X :
An attempt to attack the Hon’ble Chief Justice of India in the Supreme Court today is unprecedented, shameful and abhorrent. It is an attack on the dignity of our Judiciary and the rule of law.
When a sitting Chief Justice who rose to the nation’s highest judicial office through merit, integrity, and perseverance — is targeted in such a manner, it sends a deeply disturbing message.
It reflects an attempt to intimidate and humiliate a man who has broken social barriers to uphold the Constitution.
Such mindless act shows how hate, fanaticism and bigotry has engulfed our society in the past decade.
On behalf of the Indian National Congress, I condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms.
The safety and security of our Judiciary is paramount. Let justice and reason prevail, not intimidation said RS MP and veteran leader of opposition in the Upper House Mallikarjun Kharge .
