Pithoragarh: Tragic death of a teacher after falling into a ditch; SDRF recovered the body from the ditch under difficult circumstances

Today on 18th September 2025, the team from SDRF Post Pithoragarh under the leadership of Sub Inspector Shri Devendra Singh received information from DCR Pithoragarh that a person had fallen into a ditch on Badve Road.

Acting swiftly on the information, the SDRF team rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the man had fallen into a ditch approximately 80 meters deep and was dead.

The team carried out a rescue operation under difficult conditions and took the body of the deceased out of the ditch and brought it to the main road and handed it over to the district police.

The deceased was identified as Umesh Prakash (40 years), assistant teacher, primary school, resident of Shilingaya.
