After publicly apologising and assuring the Sikh community about his ” PRAYSCHIT” (atonement) in a Gurudwara at Uttarakhand for equating the pious “Panj Pyaraas” with the Punjab Congress chief Navjyot Singh Sidhu and four working presidents in Chandigarh the other day, inviting the wrath of Samyukt Akali Dal leader Daljeet Singh Cheena and the Sikh community, the former Uttarakhand CM n national general secretary of Congress Harish Rawat today visited Gurudwara Nanakmatta, 14 kilometres from Khatima and serviced the Sikh Shrine by literally cleaning the shoes of the devotees as well as sweeping the Gurudwara floor with broom amid raising of religious slogans hailing Sikh Gurus.

Harish Rawat wearing a head cover in saffron colour dusted the shoes n cleaned the floor of the religious shrine fulfilling his promise to offer penance for his objectionable statement in Chandigarh allegedly amounting to the insult to Sikh community.

Veteran Congress leader after his hectic Punjab tour was in Khatima today to Kickstart the fourteen day ” PARIVARTAN YATRA, commenced from Khatima, the constituency of the Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhani.

Hundred of Congress activists including the Uttarakhand Congress chief Ganesh Godiyal and majority of the office bearers with opposition leader Pritam Singh were accompanying Harish Rawat on the first day of the ” Parivartan Yatra” which will cover all the districts of Uttarakhand.

The Congress has tactically selected the constituency of the Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhani to give a hold to BJP. Similarly the Bhartiya Janata Party has also commenced its Jan Sampark Yatra campaign to be started from Srinagar Garhwal, the constituency of the Uttarakhand Congress chief and lawmaker from Srinagar, Garhwal.

During his whirlwind tour the chairman of the Election campaign committee Harish Rawat also paid rich floral tributes to the martyrs of Khatima, who sacrificed their lives during the separate Uttarakhand movement in 1994. Meanwhile, in a Facebook and Twitter post Harish Rawat has allegedly accused his political rivals of trying to throw ink mixed with acid on the Congress leaders during the Parivartan Yatra. He alleged that if the information received by him stands correct it will be a huge blot on Uttarakhand. According to his post in Hindi annexed with his tweet Harish Rawat wrote yesterday in Hindi : I got an information from two relable sources which is extremely worrisome. In politics, healthy rivalry, rivalry of work competition, ideological differences are welcome but if the students are provoked or people motivated against their rivals especially Congress leaders by trying to throw on them the ink laced with acid

then will open a black chapter of blot on Uttarakhand.

Congress general secretary Harish Rawat in his post wrote in Hindi : I just acknowledged an information from two sources which is quite worrisome. In politics rivalry should be healthy, like work competition, or ideological differences. But instigating students or motivating people to selectively throw ink laced with acid on Congress leaders engaged in its political march will initiate black chapter in Uttarakhand. If this happens, one can easily arrive at a conclusion as to which political party it would be. Therefore after acknowledging this information I am sharing it with all the administrative agencies including police and political leaders. I am praying to Godess Purnagiri that this information just remains an assumption n hope it does not come to be true. But if this really happens, it will be the darkest chapter in Uttarakhand’s politics. We condemn it in strongest possible terms wrote Harish Rawat in his post in social media.

Meanwhile in a C voter ABP survey in Uttarakhand the ruling saffron party is staging a come back in the next years assembly elections with BJP likely to win on 44 to 48 seats with Congress to bag 19 to 23 seats followed by AAP likely to triumph on four and two seats going to others. This survey if comes true is definitely a good news for BJP which changed three CMs during the last 4 n a half months during uts 4.6 years rule. The survey shows the BJP winning in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur with AAP having bright chances in Punjab where the survey shows SAD n BJP in not a good position giving upper hand to AAP.
