NTPC PROJECT WAS THE MAJOR AND BASIC REASON FOR MASSIVE SUBSIDENCE OF JOSHIMATH : ATUL SATI

Atul Sati , a renowned activist in Uttarakhand, relentlessly fought for environmental protection and against the massive subsidence in Joshimath where more than one thousand houses and commercial buildings including government offices have developed deep cracks and shifted elsewhere affecting hundreds of people and a sword of displacement hanging over the fate of hundreds of others was today in Press Club of India , Delhi alongwith the enlightened activists of Arunachal Pradesh for imposing a massive dam of 11500 megawatt on them.
Addressing a press conference Comrade Atul Sati who is actively associated with CPI ( ML) was extremely worried over the man made disasters leading to the destruction of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh highlighting the massive disaster of 2013 June when a Chorabari lake was burst due to massive cloud bursts and subsequent flashfloods killing nearly twenty two thousand people ( unofficially) , 2021 cloudburst and overflooding that claimed more than two hundred lives and damaging the entire hydropower project of NTPC and the subsidence of Joshimath which displaced hundreds of local residents.
Accusing the big hydropower projects being built in the Himalayan states and several in the offing, including the 11500 MW dam being imposed on Arunachal Pradesh , Atul Sati said that even the honourable Supreme Court has admitted that if non environment friendly so called development goes on in the Himalayan states as in Himachal Pradesh , the way massive flash floods are playing with the human lives on wide scale killing them instantly ,the Himachal Pradesh will collapse ultimately.
He said that the NTPC project was the actual reason for the massive subsidence in Joshimath , Garhwal and several other high intensity hydropower projects are future warning signals for our hills especially in the Himalayan states.
Citing the example of the contravention of the honourable Supreme Court orders and resignation of the renowned seismologist and environmentalist Dr. Chopra , Atul Sati said that the Himalayan states of the country are on brink of massive destruction as a result of increasing ecological disasters created by the massive hydropower projects and environmentally unfriendly so called developments including massive destruction of trees etc resulting in repeated cloud burst tragedies , excessive rains and subsequent destruction on mass scale in the Himalayan states which need to be countered strongly and decisively.
Atul Sati was today at Press Club of India precincts to address a Press Conference in solidarity with Arunachal Pradesh enlightened colleagues regarding the Upper Siang Multi Purpose Storage Hydro Power Project and its alleged colossal consequences.
This 11500 MW project is being imposed on the Arunachal Pradesh people without the consent of the local population… and at the same time the local residents are being suppressed by deploying paramilitary forces in every village. Joshimath region, in Garhwal, Uttarakhand is also suffering due to the hydroelectric project. He said : Expressing solidarity in this context, I joined and expressed my views.
