During interrogation, the accused stated that he had known the deceased Ajay Bateja and his stepbrother Amit Bateja for several years. On May 23, 2025, Amit Bateja took the accused, along with his stepbrother Ajay Bateja and two other women, to see Ajay Bateja’s carte blanche in Mussoorie. During this, Amit Bateja told the accused that his father’s money was also invested in Ajay Bateja’s properties.
He had asked Ajay Bateja several times to give him some share of his property but instead of giving him any share in the property, he was squandering all the money on debauchery. During this, Amit Bateja offered the accused to eliminate Ajay Bateja and in return give him half of the property located in Jakhan and not let the accused’s name come up in the firing incident that took place in Nakud Saharanpur, in which the accused was involved, on which the accused agreed to kill Ajay Bateja.
To carry out the crime, on May 25th, the accused, along with his girlfriend Humera alias Zoya, met with Amit Bateja in Saharanpur, where they hatched a plan to murder Ajay Bateja. Subsequently, the accused, along with his girlfriend, Amit Bateja, and another accomplice, Neeraj, who had no knowledge of the plot, traveled to Dehradun on the pretext of visiting another friend, Akshay, who had been shot in Saharanpur and was undergoing treatment at Max Hospital. The four stayed overnight at Ajay Bateja’s house in Jakhan.
As per the plan, the accused left his girlfriend Zoya alias Umera with Ajay Bateja and himself went with his other friends to buy liquor from the liquor shop located on Mussoorie Road, where they drank liquor while sitting in the car and at around 01.00 in the night, as per the plan, the accused alone reached Ajay Bateja’s house and Amit Bateja, on some pretext, took the accused’s friend Neeraj with him in the car from outside the house.
After entering the house, the accused, taking the help of Zoya, deliberately made Ajay Bateja drink a lot of alcohol and when he got the chance, he covered his mouth with a pillow. Due to intoxication, the deceased Ajay Bateja could not struggle and died on the spot. After the incident, the accused tried to hang Ajay Bateja from the fan so that he could make the murder look like a suicide, but in his hurry he could not hang him from the fan.
During this time, his eyes fell on the CCTV camera installed outside the room. Fearing arrest, the accused removed the DVR of the CCTV camera and took it with him. After the incident, the accused reached ISBT with his girlfriend via auto and from there boarded a bus to Saharanpur.
