Former Press Secretary to President and CBI spokesperson IIS officer of repute SM Khan is no more ! RIP
The former Indian Information Service officer of repute, former press secretary to the then president of India Sir APJ Abdul Kalam for five years and spokesperson of Indian’s premier investigating agency CBI, a soft spoken, affable natured S.M. Khan is no more.
He breathed his last on Sunday in Intensive Care Unit of super speciality Max hospital, Saket.
Born on 15 June 1957, S. M Khan was an Indian Information Service officer of Government of India , a 1982-batch IIS officer, he had a long innings with CBI as its spokesperson and Press Secretary to then President of India A P J Abdul Kalam, and served as Director of Jamia Hamdard Residential Coaching Academy.
He had very good relations with the national media.
The Press Club of India expressed its deepest condolences on the sad demise of IIS officer S.M Khan. While paying rich tributes the PCI wrote on X : The Press Club of India is shocked and deeply grieved on hearing the passing away of its senior member, SM Khan. A 1982-batch IIS officer, he had a long innings with CBI as its spokesperson and Press Secretary to then President of India APJ Abdul Kalam (2002 to 2007). We express our deep condolences to the bereaved family and friends for this unrepairable loss. RIP wrote PCI on X.
Apart from serving the president of India as his press secretary from 2002 to 2007 and being the spokesperson of CBI S.M Khan also served in various important capacities in Government of India. He served as Director General of PIB and DD News and Press Registrar, RNI.
His Tadfeen (cremation) will be performed tomorrow i.e. on 18th November in his hometown Khurja,(U.P).
He was also the number of Press Club of India and the media spoke very high of him. Apart from being an officer of repute, impeccable integrity he was of down to earth nature and extremely soft spoken with his equation with media extremely good.
