Congress and BJP on back foot after Kejrival’s dramatic anouncement of freeing 300 units of electricity per

As the elections are nearing in Uttarakhand the leaders of Congress, BJP and AAP are leaving no stone unturned to impress the electorates by appeasing them through freebies. The political parties Aam Admi Party and BJP have till now taken the lead in announcing populist measures with regard to giving free electricity guarantees on monthly basis to electricity consumers of Uttarakhand. While the BJP took the lead by announcing 100 units of electricity free on monthly basis including 50% charges on 101 to 200 units consumption, the Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival went further ahead by announcing free electricity for consuming 300 units every month with farmers’ electricity consumption completely free of cost compounded with waiving off, of all the previous pending bills. However, the main opposition party that ruled the state for a decade or so had come on the back foot for having made not a single announcement in this regard.

However, the former CM, general secretary of Congress and CWC member Harish Rawat didn’t lose his heart but still seems to be in high spirits countering Delhi CM despite his freebies announcement enticing applauds from the entire state. In his statement Harish Rawat ridiculing the recent announcement of Kejrival said , had Uttarakhand been having the budget equivalent to Delhi, in Uttarakhand the Congress party would have made 400 units of electricity free instead of 300 units as announced by him. He on behalf of Congress party has announce that after coming to power his government will give 100 units electricity for first year on monthly basis and two hundred units next year. Criticizing the Delhi government’s chief Arvind Kejrival , Harish Rawat said that even after seven years rule in Delhi only 200 units of electricity is being given free of cost to Delhites and those consuming more than this limit are charged tariffs for entire consumption. He also castigated Arvind Kejrival for charging exorbitantly at the rate of Rs. 7.75 from commercial consumers whereas in Uttarakhand Rs 5. 80 paise are charged for commercial consumption. He catagorically said that there is no competition between Delhi and Uttarakhand in terms of income from various sources saying Futher that had Uttarakhand’s annual budget been equivalent to our state the Congress would have made free consumption of electricity up to 400 units.
