After the prime minister’s largely attended public meeting at Rudrapur two days ago the national chief of the Bhartiya Janata Party J.P. Nadda is arriving in Uttarakhand to address rallies and participate in roadshows in support of the saffron party candidates. His political election tour commences from today. There are reports that several local leaders and former lawmakers are ready to join the party if welcomed by the national chief as BJP is trying to allegedly engineer large scale defections in Congress party as in Haridwar yesterday several Congress leaders close to Harish Rawat joined BJP in Haridwar and earlier a Congress MLA , former MLA and defeated candidates etc. It is believed that the BJP leadership wants to weaken Congress at the grass root level and therefore wants to ensure that even its local leaders join BJP. Even the party’s Uttarakhand’s chief observer and incharge MP n general secretary BJP Dushyant Gautam has clearly said that certain lawmakers and senior leaders are curious to join BJP adding that by heart and mind they are already with BJP but are not able to take a decision of detecting in view of the ongoing elections. There are also reports of Dr. Harak Singh Rawat joining the BJP but the state BJP chief and MP Mahendra Bhatt has denied taking him back at any cost saying that since tainted Harak Singh Rawat was expelled from BJP by the Central leadership, the decision to welcome him in the saffron party will be taken by the BJP central high command. Dr. Rawat’s daughter in law Anukriti Gusain, a beauty pageant turned politician has already resigned from Congress who had unsuccessfully contested from Lansdowne constituency in 2022. Dr. Rawat, a bete noire of Harish Rawat is facing ED probe against him in connection with a corruption case with regard to cutting of thousands of trees and alleged financial irregularities while he was the minister of forests of Uttarakhand.
The BJP chief J.P. Nadda is on two days campaign tour of Uttarakhand. He is addressing a rally in Almora districts’ Pithoragarh Dev Singh Ground in the noon and three o clock at Vikas Nagar, Bajar Chowk, Dehradun. In the evening he will address a public meeting in support of Tehri candidate Rajya Lakshmi Shah who is facing immense challenge from the UKD candidate Bobby Panwar. Tomorrow he will meet the Sadhu Sants at Haridwar in the morning and thereafter participate in a road show and public meeting. This hectic tour of J.P.Naddawill help revive the party workers enthusiasm say BJP leaders. The party incharge Dushyant Gautam, state party chief Mahendra Bhatt and senior leaders and party candidates will be present in the meeting. He is also involved in a sting operation case going on in CBI .
