PM speaks to Uttarakhand CM to enquire about condition in Uttarakhand in view ig heavy rains and natural calamities

The prime minister Narendra Modi today spoke to Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami over phone enquiring about the welfare of the people of the state in view of various news regarding excessive rains leading to landslides and villagers suffering in view of subsequent natural calamities.

According to a tweet of the chief minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Singh Dhami in Hindi : Today prime minister Narendra Modi contacted me over phone to know about the latest situation of the state in view of the ongoing heavy rains and subsequent calamities. I gave the prime minister detailed information about the condition of roads in the state, the condition of vegetables and crops after the torrential rains, the losses to crops and vegetables including the conduction of Kaanvad, Yatra etc.

I also acquainted him about the various remedial actions being undertaken to cope with the situation by NDRF, SDRF and the police administration.

We thank the prime minister heartily for extending his fullest assurance for all possible help to deal with any eventually tweeted chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.

It may be recalled that in view of the torrential rainfall in Uttarakhand as well as in Himachal Pradesh, the landslides’ incidents and over flooding of the various rivers have led to drowning and falling of big buildings like the pack of cards in Manali, Himachal Pradesh reminiscent of the June 16 over floods in Kedarnath and thereafter the Rishiganga and Dhauliganga over flooding of rivers leading to thousands of deaths and loss on enormous magnitude.

Yesterday reports have suggested that in Uttarakhand there had been about 28 deaths in various incidents of natural calamities and destruction of 171 roads due to massive landslides and cloud burst incidents in various divisions of Garhwal and Kumaon with about twenty trains cancelled and routes changed as well. In Kullu Manali, Himachal Pradesh several cars have been drowned and building perished including loss of lives due to cloud bursts incidents.

In Himachal Pradesh 738 roads were damaged and several highways closed. About 271 roads have been closed in Uttarakhand in view of massive rains and risk to human lives due to possibility of landslides and roads likely to cave in etc.

While, the prime minister was worried about the people’s health and wealth the Bollywood fraternity and Department of Film certification’s chief Prasoon Joshi and Bollywood actors of Uttarakhand origin were busy meeting CM to thank him for various culture and film related achievements in the state.

In a tweet, the Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami posted pictures and tweeted in Hindi : Today met the central Film Certification Board’s chairman and renowned lyricist Prasoon Joshiji, Sudhir Pandey ji, associated with theatre and Bollywood films, Smt Shahi, Shri Brijendra Kala, actor, Amit Joshiji, Rajesh Shahji, Varun Dhaundiyalji and Gauravji. The Chairman of CBFC Prasoon Joshiji thanked the Uttarakhand government for opening the Cultural Centre in Dehradun. Discussed about special cultural traditions, documentaries made on regional literature and also film production in Uttarakhand including possibility of organising a literature Festival and workshop etc tweeted chief minister Dhami
