Maharashtra HM Deshmukh resigns after CBI enquiry by High Court
As a sequel to the Mumbai High Court order issuing directives to CBI to inquire into the alleged charges of the former Maharashtra Police chief Parambir Singh asking the premier investigating agency to submit its report within seventeen days, the Maharashtra Home minister has submitted his resignation letter to chief minister Udhav Thakrey on the alleged directives of the NCP supremo Sharad Pawar. According to the latest news reports the former chief of Mumbai police Parambir Singh had earlier approached the supreme court seeking justice in his serious complaint accusing the Maharashtra Home minister Anil Deshmukh for having ordered him to allegedly collect Rs 100 crores from various bars n liquor shops of Mumbai etc.
This charge had then created quite a sensitisation and furore in Maharashtra’s political circles with the BJP leaders demanding the immediate resignation of the HM Anil Deshmukh from the the SS, NCP n Congress government in Maharashtra.
Earlier the Supreme court had asked the petitioner Parambir Singh to approach the high court as his complaint is a serious matter which warrants a high level impartial inquiry by an investigation agency. After the Supreme court’s directive the former Mumbai police Commissioner approached the high court which ordered for a CBI enquiry compelling the home minister of Maharashtra submit his resignation letter to the chief minister Udhav Thakrey. The high court repeated the apex court’s views that the charges against Maharashtra Home minister Anil Deshmukh are serious n therefore need to be thoroughly investigated by Central Bureau of Investigation.
