Many political stalwarts including Punjab CM and Harish Rawat lost their seats at the hustings
The electorates of Uttarakhand and Punjab have outrightly defeated the top leaders of various political parties except BJP and AAP with former chief minister and chief election strategist and prospective officially undeclared Congress CM Harish Rawat losing from Lal Quan assembly seat to BJP’s Mohan Singh Bisht and the stalwarts of SAD, Congress and hostile leaders in Punjab also losing at the hustings namely Prakash Singh Badal, his son Sukhbir Singh Badal, former CM, present CM Charanjeet Singh Channi, cricketer turned political rolling stone Navjyot Singh Sidhu, former CM Captain Amrinder Singh, former minister Sukhbir Singh Majithia etc.
While the Bhartiya Janata Party in Uttarakhand led by the seven month old youthful CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has secured 48 seats with Congress getting merely 17 seats and AAP none n Dhami himself losing from Khatima, the AAM ADMI PARTY led by Bhagwant Singh Mann in Punjab and Kejrival nationally, secured a bumper victory on 91 seats sweeping Congress to dust, setting a historic record.
The daughter of veteran Congress leader Harish Rawat has however won from Haridwar ( Rural seat) who is the national general secretary of Mahila Congress.
This means that now she will carry forward her father’s political baton ahead and Ritu Khanduri, lawmaker from Kotdwar is carrying the baton of his defeated father, former CM Major General ( R) B. C. Khanduri.
This trend of defeating the senior most leaders in Uttarakhand, Punjab and elsewhere as well unambiguously indicates that the people are in no mood to reelect the old leaders who had considered politics as their fiefdom or birth right to rule despite failing on various fronts to serve the masses.
It may be recalled that highly over ambitious former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat had in the past in 2017 assembly elections also lost from two seats, losing this time as well.
He was shifted from Ram Nagar assembly constituency to Lal Kuan earlier given to a woman candidate Sandhya Dalakoti of Congress who turned hostile and contested against Rawat to ensure his defeat.
It may be recalled that the BJP candidate Mohan Singh Bisht has secured 39638 votes from Lal Quan with Congress heavy weight getting only 25475 votes.
This massive defeat of Congress in Uttarakhand and Punjab has established beyond doubt that while Modi charisma and hindu mobilisation still works and exists, the Aam Admi Party is emerging as a national alternative in future.
What is interesting in Punjab is that an ordinary employee working in a mobile shop has defeated Charanjeet Singh Channi CM and women volunteer whose mother is a safai karmachari defeated another Congress stalwart according to Arvind Kejrival.
However, the Uttarakhand’s prospective CM candidate declared by Arvind Kejriwal Colonel Ajay Kothiyal has also lost from Gangotri constituency with AAP not getting any seat in the hilly state.
True but not surprising
Its not Harda’s fault. His Alacaman sent him to Assam n Punjab which was not making sense. He should have been in his own state building ground. No use. Congress meeting has also been cancelled. Now Mrs Ganshi will resign n make Rahul G the president or will pick up someone who dances to tune of RaGa.
They would have won punjab but in last minute they threw out Arminder. Now everything is in mess
