Deputation of Delhi accredited journalists meet Delhi CM on Hindi Patrakarita Diwas and demanded pension and cashless medical services including free bus travel in Delhi

New Delhi, May 30, 2026. On the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day, a delegation from the “Recognized Journalists Welfare Committee” met with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and submitted a memorandum of their demands. The Chief Minister assured the committee that the committee’s demands would be seriously considered. Committee President Ravindra Gupta, General Secretary Rajnikant Tiwari, Treasurer Ashok Kaushik, Amit Kumar, and other officials congratulated the Chief Minister on Journalism Day and honored her with a symbol and a shawl.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also honored all the journalists by presenting them with shawls. On behalf of the committee, Ravindra Gupta demanded pensions for journalists, cashless medical facilities, free travel for journalists on interstate DTC buses, and several other benefits. The Chief Minister assured serious consideration of the matter.

Ravindra Gupta also raised the issue of the lack of an accreditation committee for the past several years, to which the Chief Minister said that she would first establish an accreditation committee so that the problems of journalists could be resolved.

Earlier, on Friday, on the eve of the completion of 200 years of Hindi journalism,
the “Accredited Journalists Welfare Committee” (MPKS) organized a grand and historic function at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi.

The event was attended by prominent journalists and dignitaries from across the country. Former Union Minister Vijay Goel was the chief guest.
Joining him on stage as special guests were Swami Dipankar Ji Maharaj,
Prof. K.G. Suresh (former Vice Chancellor, Makhanlal Chaturvedi Journalism University) and Director, India Habitat Centre, Dr. Ved Prakash Gupta (Chairman, National Thoughts and Shri Devalaya Sangh), Arun Goyal (CMD, Bharat Prakashan),
In addition to Delhi, senior journalists from A.P. Das (Odisha), Laxman Patel (Gujarat), P. Shanmugalvel (Tamil Nadu), Prabhat Chandra Sharma (Guwahati), Karnataka, Assam, and Dehradun also made their presence felt.

On this occasion, Ravindra Gupta highlighted the challenges faced by journalists, the guardians of democracy, and clearly stated his demands. He demanded that the central and Delhi governments reinstate the pension scheme for senior journalists and the mandatory reinstatement of cashless medical facilities for journalists and their families.

On this occasion, personalities who have made significant contributions in the field of journalism and social service were honoured with ‘Big Momento’ and certificate of honor. Among those honored were Sunil Negi, senior journalist, President , Uttarakhand Journalists Forum and editor of UKnationnews, Sangeeta Barua Pisharochi, Anil Yadav (News Nation), Amlesh Raju (Jansatta), Pratibha Shukla (Jansatta), Amit Kumar (Rashtriya Sahara), Kumar Rajeev Ranjan Singh (The First Witness), K.D. Pathak (Veer Arjun), Santosh Singh (Dainik Jagran), Prabhat Chand Sharma (Jansatta), Gyan Prakash (Rashtriya Sahara), Vikas Garg (Encounter), Ashok Dhawan (Mooksatta), and senior journalist Alok Gaur.

On this occasion,
Anuj Kanwal, Aditya Patel, Azad Singh Bhardwaj, Dr. Geeta Parashar, K.P. Gupta, and Devendra Tomar played a key role in making the program a success.
At the conclusion of the program, chief guests Vijay Goyal and Swami Dipankar Ji Maharaj unanimously stated that unbiased journalism is a mirror of society, and it is the collective responsibility of society and the government to protect the social and economic interests of journalists.
