Massive 15-Foot Long and 10-Foot Deep Pothole on Dakra Road, Dehradun After Heavy Rain Raises Safety Concerns
Dehradun: A massive pothole, approximately 15 feet long and 10 feet deep, has appeared on the road in Teen Kuan, Dakra area of Dehradun following heavy rainfall, posing a serious threat to commuters and inviting a major accident.
Local residents have urged the administration to get the road repaired at the earliest to prevent any untoward incident. They said that with continuous traffic and monsoon conditions, the damaged stretch could prove fatal for two-wheelers and other vehicles.
This is not an isolated case. In recent months, several road cave-ins have been reported on key corridors leading to Dehradun from Delhi, Meerut and on the Kotdwar highway. Such recurring damage not only endangers public safety but also raises questions about the quality of construction and maintenance, with citizens alleging that taxpayer money is being wasted on roads that fail to withstand even a single spell of heavy rain.
Residents have demanded that the authorities conduct a thorough inspection of vulnerable stretches and ensure durable repairs before the monsoon causes more damage.
