Uttarakhand to go to poll on 14 th February with Punjab and Goa while UP goes to poll in 7 phases with counting on March 10

The date of elections and counting have been declared today by the chief election commissioner Sushil Chandra. The code of conduct in all the five states going to the polls, has been imposed with immediate effect.

According to the Election Commission of India, Uttar Pradesh will go to poll from February 10 to March 7 in seven phases while Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa will vote on February 14. North Eastern state Manipur will have two dates for polling i. e. February 27th and March 3rd. The final date of counting has been fixed for March 10.

According to the schedule released by the Election Commission of India for the five election bound states viz Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur, in the largest state UP there will be seven phase voting on 14 January, 21 January, 25 th January, 27 th January, 1 Feb, 4 th and 10 th February while in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa the polling will take place on February 14.

In Manipur there will be two days polling on February 27 and March 10.

According to the CEC Sushil Chandra, the notification will be issued on 21 st January while the last date of nomination will be on 28 th January. On 29 th January there will be verification while 31st January, is the last day of withdrawal. On 10 th March there will be final counting and subsequent declaration of results.

However, in view of the surge in Covid 19 n Omicron cases the chief election commissioner announced that there won’t be any physicall rallies, public meetings, padyatras, road shows, cycle or car, motorcycles rallies, political congregations etc till 15 th January in any constituencies of the poll bound states.

After 15 th January the Election Commission will assess and analyse the situation and take further decision accordingly.

For Uttarakhand, keeping in view its unique geographical situation and difficult areas for voters to travel far and wide while going to exercise their franchise due to inclement weather as well, the CEC has given one hour extra extending the closing time of voting from 5.00 PM to 6.00 PM.

in Uttarakhand there are total 81 lakh 43 thousand registered voters according to the latest printing list coming out on 5 th January with 1.98 lakh women voters and 1. 6 lakh men enrolled this year. There will be in all 11447 polling booths in Uttarakhand n in every booth the average persons ( the voters) would be around 700.
