Two term Delhi CM , a symbol of impeccable integrity and a great leader late B.C. Khanduri given a final adieu amid tears

The two term  chief minister of Uttarakhand ( Retired ) late Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri was today given a final adieu at the Kadkadi Ghat, Haridwar where he was consigned to flames amid tears in the eyes of hundreds of followers.

His son Manish Khanduri gave fire to his body.

Hundreds of BJP activists and political workers of other parties were raising slogans hailing Major General B.C. Khanduri , “Jab tak Suraj Chand rahega BC Khanduri aapka naam rahega” etc.

The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami , his son Manish Khanduri etc have given shoulder to the general’s dead body till Kadkadi Ghat crematorium.

Many prominent political personalities, central and state ministers, MLAs , MPs , former lawmakers, daughter Ritu Khanduri speaker Delhi Vidhan Sabha were present on this ocassion. Prominent among those present were Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Union minister and former Haryana CM Mranohar Lal  Khattar , former CM Vijay Bahuguna, Shekhar Bahuguna,  cabinet ministers Madan Kaushik, Satpal Maharaj, Subodh Uniyal, Khajan Das, Dhan Singh Rawat, former chief ministers Tirath Singh Rawat, Dr. Ramesh Pokhariyal Nishank, Trivendra Singh Rawat, MP, MLA Swami Mukteshwaranand, union minister  Ajay Tamta, MP Anil Baluni, Ajay Singh Organising secretary, UK BJP, etc were present during the cremation at Haridwar.

The state police accorded him the guard of honour and twenty one guns salute as a mark of respect to the great leader and former Uttarakhand CM.

The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami termed has the passing away of Major General Khanduri as a huge loss to the state and the country. His absence will be badly felt who guided us as a guardian and political mentor said Uttarakhand CM Dhami  saying further  that he was a true symbol of impeccable integrity, a dynamic administrator, a leader of acumen and a transparent human being with affable down to earth nature. May his soul rest in peace at the feet of Almighty said the Uttarakhand chief minister.

Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri, ex  and union minister was popular among all the political party leaders irrespective of ideologies and even journalists lived and adored him.

Rajdeep Sardesai, a senior journalist said : People often ask me: have you met ‘good’ people in politics? Yes, I have. Quite a few. One of them passed away yesterday. Former Ukhand CM Gen BC Khanduri was a politician who was committed to probity and public service. His work as surface transport minister in the Vajpayee led govt paved the way for a ‘road revolution’. Guess he was too honest in the end for the coarsened times in which we live. RIP. Om Shanti said Sardesai while paying his tributes to this great leader.

Even prime minister Narendra Modi despite being on a  five day foreign tour has expressed his deepest condolences on learning about the sad demise of ( R) Major general B.C. Khanduri writing on X from abroad :

former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Major General Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri(Retd.) Ji.From the armed forces to the political arena, he made invaluable contributions, for which he will always be remembered. He remained forever dedicated to the development of Uttarakhand, which was clearly evident during his tenure as Chief Minister. His term as a Union Minister is also inspiring to everyone.
He made tireless efforts continuously for the betterment of connectivity across the country.In this hour of grief, my condolences are with his family and supporters. Om Shanti! wrote prime minister Narendra Modi.
