Two judge bench of SC denies bail to Manish Sisodia !
The Aam Aadmi Party and the former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia who is in Tihar prison for the last several months got a jolt when the two judge bench of Supreme Court denied him bail turning down his request.
Denying the bail to Manish Sisodia, the two judge bench comprising of justices Sanjeev Khanna and SVN Bhatti in a case pertaining to new Delhi Excise policy scam on money laundering and corruption charges said that ” One aspect with regard to tranfer of Rs 338 crores is tentatively established, therefore we have dismissed the case, as per the Live Law reporting.
According to news coming in, however, the two judge bench said that the trial should be completed within three months and in case the case is delayed or it drags ahead further on snails pace, the Delhi’s former deputy CM would have the legal right to apply for bail within three months again.
Kindly recall that the former deputy CM Manish Sisodia who is quite popular in Delhi to improve the lot of Delhi schools and upgrading the government schools’ standard elevating the quality education and schools’ infrastructure with new furniture, labs, etc , giving them a modern look, had been behind bars since February 26 when he was arrested by the CBI for his alleged role in the new liquor policy scam with charges of bribes n corruption including money laundering.
As a result the former deputy CM had to quit from his post. The former health minister of NCT of Delhi Satyendra Jain is also in Tihar prison on money laundering charges having also gone ill, admitted in hospital and gone too weak . He is in jail since May last year and was denied bail.
Meanwhile, there are reports that Aam Admi Party had formally decided to file a review petition in SC against the decision of the two judge bench denying him the bail.
