TSR sworn in as 9 th CM at Uttarakhand Raj Bhawan. His name was strongly recommended by outgoing CM TSR

Member of parliament from Pauri Garhwal Tirath Singh Rawat has formally taken oath as the ninth chief minister of Uttarakhand at Dehradun Raj Bhawan where the Uttarakhand governor Baby Rani Maurya administered him the oath of office. Prior to the oath, the name of Tirath Singh Rawat was unanimously stamped by the BJP MLAs in the BJP Vidhan Mandal meeting in the presence of the central observers Raman Singh and Dushyant Kumar, national vice president and general secretary of the party. Prominent among those present at the swearing in ceremony at the Governor House were former Chattisgarh CM Raman Singh, Dushyant Kumar, genl secretary n in-charge Uttarakhand BJP affairs, outgoing CM Trivendra Singh Rawat and the entire state cabinet, lawmakers of the saffron party n office bearers etc.

According to the reliable sources the names of Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni n Dhan Singh, Satpal Maharaj were in active consideration but the outgoing chief minister had tremendous reservations who objected to their names and strongly recommended the name of Tirath Singh Rawat, to which the high command had to submit fearing his rebellion. Fifty seven year old Tirath Singh Rawat had been the Vidhan Parishad member from 1997 to 2002 followed by being education minister in the first Uttarakhand government for two years till 2002. He was the MLA from 2012 to 2017 after also being the state BJP chief from 2013 to 2015. Rawat’s career spanning more than three decades started from his village n school Jehrikhal Lansdown being a hard core RSS Pracharak.
