Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke on Friday alleged that he and the core team of CJP could be arrested by this evening or night, triggering strong reactions at Jantar Mantar where party workers have been sitting on dharna.
Addressing protestors at Jantar Mantar, Dipke said the party was formed after an online campaign sparked by an alleged statement by an honourable Supreme Court judge. He claimed to have “reliable information” that the government may move to arrest CJP leaders tonight.
“We are sitting here silently and peacefully on dharna, following the principles of non-violence of Gandhiji and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. This is perhaps the most peaceful protest post-independence,” Dipke told the gathering.
His remarks created quite a flutter among the students and protestors camping at Jantar Mantar over NEET and other exam issues.
Meanwhile, developments moved quickly on the government side. Representatives of the government have reached the Institution Club in Delhi and the *CJP delegation has also reached there* for a meeting with Union Ministers.
Earlier in the day, BJP President and Union Minister *J.P. Nadda* had met Union Home Minister *Amit Shah* before the scheduled interaction with the CJP team.
The meeting comes a day after Union Ministers Nadda and Jitendra Singh met activist Sonam Wangchuk at Medanta Hospital and gave written assurances to end his 26-day hunger strike. Those assurances included no cases against peaceful protestors, a Parliament discussion on accountability for paper leaks, and compensation for families of students who died by suicide.
CJP leaders said they will place their core demands before the ministers, including a judicial probe into exam irregularities, reforms in NTA, and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
With both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha adjourned till Monday amid Opposition protests, all eyes are now on the outcome of the Institution Club meeting between the government and the CJP delegation.
