Among the elected Punchayati members in Uttarakhand in the recently concluded elections an elected independent candidate who used to dance on melodious Pahadee songs in you tube programmes and popularly known as Lachchu Da, (meaning Lachchu brother) a dwarf having a very little height has become extremely popular being invited by various channels for interviews including acknowledging good publicity in the print media as well.
Lachchu Da despite being very short in height and a poor person seems to be extremely courageous and enthusiastic and has on the advise and suggestions of the area people agreed to contest for the membership of the district Punchayat despite being devoid of much funds.
He worked hard without carrying any inferiority complex despite being a Dwarf and went village to village with his supporters on foot and sometimes even on ponies back leaving no stone unturned to ensure his victory.
As his campaigning gained momentum due to his candidature coming into limelight his being a dwarf , the women and men of his area started campaigning for him.
He danced with the vilage women and men in the melodious songs and tunes during the campaigning canvassing for votes and finally winning by more than 18 votes securing 378 votes, a great victory defeating his rivals hands down. Lachchu Da had already become popular due to his outstanding comic dances in you tube Pahadee songs and even he visited villages he was welcomed with tremendous respect carrying a large fan following. Dwarf Comedian Lachchu Da has won from Jaisar, Ghadket area in Kumaon as the District Punchayati member.
Though he is physically incapable, a dwarf, but he won defeating his rivals with a good margin already being popular due to his interesting and humorous histrionics.
The speciality of his campaign was that while on the one hand his a rivals spent tremendous money spending on liquor and other things apeasing the electorates, poor Comedian Lachchu Da went to his voters entertaining them and assuring to fulfil their every demand like building of roads and pathways and other unfulfilled tasks. He went village to village on foot and on ponies back happily with his rivals not at all taking him seriously.
The electorate of his area have fully supported him and ensured his victory for such an important post, his being a physically challenged person.
Comedian Lachchu Da is in high spirits and has promised to fulfil every unfulfilled tasks and other important works of his area with full dedication, commitment and determination to come true to the expectations of his electorates who have made his victory possible.
