Three Arrested for Creating Ruckus and Brandishing Pistol in Public Place

Dehradun. Doon Police has arrested three accused in a case of assault, creating ruckus and threatening by showing a licensed pistol over a dispute regarding removal of a vehicle on the road in the Premnagar area. The police have recovered a licensed .32 bore pistol, five live cartridges, a stick and the Fortuner car used in the incident from the possession of the accused. A report is being sent to the District Magistrate for cancellation of the pistol license.

According to the police, on the night of August 21, the control room received information about a fight and ruckus between some people near Next Hostel in Premnagar. On receiving the information, Premnagar police reached the spot and scanned the CCTV cameras installed nearby.

Dispute started over high beam

In the CCTV footage, a bus and a Fortuner car were seen standing on the road. A dispute and fight was seen between two persons near both the vehicles. One person was seen with a stick in his hand, while the other had a pistol in his hand.

During investigation, the police identified one accused as Gaurav, a resident of Jhajra. On questioning, Gaurav told that he drives a bus of a private educational institution. While going home at night, a Fortuner was parked on the road near Next Hostel with high beam lights on. Despite honking, the vehicle was not removed, after which a dispute broke out between both sides.

According to the police, as the dispute escalated, Gaurav took out a stick from the bus and attacked the Fortuner driver. After this, the companions of the Fortuner driver also reached the spot and threatened Gaurav by showing a pistol and abused and assaulted him.

Two other accused caught from hospital

On the basis of interrogation of Gaurav, the police identified both the persons in the Fortuner as Neeraj Rajput and Manish Negi. On receiving information that both had reached Graphic Era Hospital for treatment, the police raided there and arrested both.

The police recovered the licensed .32 bore pistol shown in the incident and five live cartridges from the possession of Neeraj Rajput.

Case registered against all three

The police have registered a case under FIR No. 174/26 under sections 125/133/194/3(5)/351/352 BNS and 27 Arms Act at Kotwali Premnagar on charges of fighting and creating ruckus at a public place, disturbing peace, displaying a deadly weapon and misuse of a licensed weapon.

The police said that taking the misuse of the licensed pistol seriously, a report is being sent to the District Magistrate for action to cancel its license.

– Manish Negi son of Pitambar Singh, resident of Manduwala, Premnagar, Dehradun, age 31 years.
– Neeraj Rajput son of Mahavir Singh, resident of Bhauwala, Police Station Selaqui, age 40 years.

The action was carried out by Senior Sub-Inspector Mukesh Thaledi, Sub-Inspector Amit Sharma, Sub-Inspector Jainendra Rana, Sub-Inspector Jitendra Kumar, Sub-Inspector Naushad Ansari and Constables Sandeep, Anees, Sanjay and Jagjot.
