Supreme Court to hear Delhi CM’s petition challenging his arrest as arbitrary on Monday

The Supreme Court of India will hear the petition of jailed Delhi CM Arvind Kejrival on Monday, today who is in Tihar prison since March 21 though being in ED custody for 11 days n thereafter sent to judicial custody. The chief minister Delhi has challenged his arrest terming it as arbitrary in the new excise policy related liquor scam seeking justice from the Apex court. Meanwhile his wife who is extensively campaigning for AAP candidates in Delhi , having participated in a road show in West Delhi in support of the AAP parliamentary candidate n former MP Mahabal Mishra have been reportedly denied permission to meet him on Saturday. A walkathon was also organised at Chitranjan Park area in support of Arvind Kejrival expressing solidarity and demanding his release forthwith. The Punjab Chief minister Bhagwant Manner who had earlier also met Arvind Kejrival in jail is to meet him again on Tuesday whereas the Delhi Finance minister Atishi would meet her leader in Monday reveals the news reports. The earlier petition filed by Delhi CM for relief was turned down by the Delhi High Court earlier after lot of arguments by Kejrival’s counsel Abhishekh Manu Singhvi. The Court has said that there are sufficient evidences that bribe had been taken by the South Lobby and he is the kingpin of the case. The Delhi CM has said that a level playing field in every election in democracy is a prerequisite condition but in his case he has been denied of the opportunity to campaign in favour of his candidates by arresting him arbitrarily during elections with not an iota of evidence found against him. In a rejoinder to the ED affidavit in Supreme Court Arvind Kejrival has said that he has been deprived of his democratic right to campaign and in the history of Indian politics the way he has been arrested without any iota of evidence unambiguously amounted to arbitrariness and invading democratic values n traditions.
