Sleeper Hit ‘Hanuman Ansh’ on Neem Karoli Baba Becomes India’s Most Profitable Film of 2026

The devotional drama ‘Hanuman Ansh’ based on the miraculous life of Neem Karoli Baba Maharaj Ji is running housefull across India and has emerged as the biggest sleeper hit of the year.

The film was made on a shoestring budget of just Rs. 2 crore with no big stars and almost zero publicity.

Produced by Ragini S, Namrata G Singh, Anupriya A Nagar and Dr. Vishal Chaturvedi under Swaymbhu Media Network and Holy Cow Home Productions, it was released on 7th August 2026 by Cinépolis and Panorama Studios (Delhi-UP).

According to Sacnilk and trade, the film opened with just Rs. 10 lakh but word-of-mouth changed everything.

After collecting only Rs 1.48 crore in first two weeks, it jumped to Rs. 10.4 cr in 3rd week and Rs 28 cr in 4th weekend.

Latest collection is Rs. 72.71 crore gross (Rs. 54-55 cr net) in 27 days, not Rs. 70,000 cr as rumoured – but at 2000% profit, it has beaten Yash’s Rs. 500 cr Toxic and Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 to become the most profitable film of 2026.

Set in pre-Independent India, Laxman Narayan Sharma (Lakshman Das), who lost his mother at age 13, goes on a spiritual search for Lord Ram to meet his mother again, his journey of naam-bhakti, seva, humility and compassion transforms him into Neem Karoli Baba – the Hanuman devotee who preached “Love all, Serve all, Feed all, Remember Ram”. Film covers the famous Neem Karori railway incident and founding of Kainchi Dham, Uttarakhand.

Neem Karoli Baba has millions of devotees. His teachings inspired global icons – Apple’s Steve Jobs, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Julia Roberts, Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma and Virender Sehwag reportedly visited Kainchi Dham or followed his advice, the makers said.

Kangana Ranaut praised it as “Not a movie, it’s a satsang. Skip your therapy and go watch it.”

Makers have confirmed Hanuman Ansh 2, which will explore his life from Firozabad birthplace to Agra, Mathura.
