One-Day Training Program on Women Entrepreneurship, Skills, and Sustainable Development Organized on the Occasion of World Environment Day

On the occasion of World Environment Day, a one-day training program on the theme “Women Entrepreneurship, Skills, and Sustainable Development”*was organized at Shivalik Public School, Gauchar, under the joint aegis of Molyar Resource Foundation, New Delhi, and Bahu-Beti Sewarth Self-Help Group. Women from the region, members of self-help groups, and local citizens participated enthusiastically in the program.

The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the welcoming of guests. The Chief Guest was Mr. Satish Lakhera, spokesperson of Uttarakhand BJP, national-level panelist, and senior journalist. Distinguished guests included Mr. Anil Joshi, a successful entrepreneur and owner of Wooden Umbrella Hotel, Gauchar; Mrs. Sarojini Bhandari, President of BJP Mandal Mahila Morcha; and Mrs. Kalpeshwari Devi, Gram Pradhan of village Rano.

The program was chaired by Mr. Durga Singh Bhandari, Chief Coordinator of Molyrar Resource Foundation and former General Manager (Human Resources), ONGC. The guests were welcomed with saplings and ceremonial shawls.

In her welcome address, Mrs. Kamlesh Bhandari (Kajal), President of Bahu-Beti Sewarth Self-Help Group, highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment, self-reliance, and self-employment. She stated that the economic participation of rural women is a crucial foundation for the development of society and the nation.

In his address, Mr. Durga Singh Bhandari discussed in detail the importance of women entrepreneurship, skill development, digital literacy, and marketing. Emphasizing the role of every citizen in environmental conservation, he said that the use of single-use plastic should be discontinued in daily life and that water, fuel, and energy should be used judiciously. He called upon people to adopt green energy and develop environmentally friendly lifestyles. He further stated that women in Uttarakhand possess immense potential through their traditional knowledge, local resources, and entrepreneurial abilities, which can be strengthened by linking them with modern technology and marketing.

Mr. Anil Joshi, a successful entrepreneur and owner of Wooden Umbrella Hotel, Gauchar, congratulated the organizers for conducting such a useful training program for rural women. He urged participants to make full use of such opportunities and enhance their knowledge and skills. He also assured them of all possible support and guidance in availing benefits under various government schemes.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the chief guest, Mr. Satish Lakhera, highlighted the challenges of environmental conservation, climate change, and sustainable development. He stated that environmental protection is not only the responsibility of the government but also the duty of every citizen. On this occasion, he also administered an environmental protection pledge to all participants. He informed the women entrepreneurs about various schemes and support programs run by the central and state governments and encouraged them to take advantage of the opportunities available for self-employment and establishing small enterprises.

At the end of the program, Mrs. Seema Bhandari, Director of Molyar Resource Foundation, expressed gratitude to all the guests, participants, supporters, and members of the organizing committee. Thereafter, the chief guest Mr. Satish Lakhera, along with the guests and participants, planted trees and took a pledge to protect the environment.

During the training session, Mrs. Kamlesh Bhandari (Kajal), President of the Bahu-Beti Sewarth Self-Help Group and a Master Trainer in Entrepreneurship, delivered a detailed lecture on women’s entrepreneurship, skill development, self-employment, and various government schemes. She encouraged women to become self-reliant and to establish successful enterprises by utilizing available resources. Mr. Durga Singh Bhandari provided important information on digital literacy, digital marketing, business management, SWOT analysis, and the effective marketing of local products. The participants described the program as highly useful, informative, and inspiring. Mrs. Kajal Bhandari conducted the program very effectively.
