Hundreds of demonstrators march towards the illegal Sanjouli mosque demanding its demolition
Hundreds of annoyed, angered and furious demonstrators were lathi charged and water sprinkled towards them when they were marching towards Sanjauli mosque short distance away from Shimla breaking the police barricades, accusing the government led by Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Congress for patronizing them though one of the maulvi of the mosque said that it is several decades old and have built it’s three stories in 2007.
The maulvi was speaking to the media.
The angered demonstrators said that the mosque is illegal and hundreds of outsiders of minorities community have settled here under the guise of constructing an illegal mosque.
The demonstrators are openly saying that this is a question of the prestige and honour of the majority community and Hindu Ekta.
The entry of outsiders in Himachal Pradesh and construction of illegal mosques in HP have destroying the demography of the state said the demonstrators.
They warned the Congress CM of Himachal Pradesh that he will face the serious political consequences if the mosque is not sealed first and then demolished.
We are fighting for the Hindu cause said majority of the men and women in the demonstrations badly angered after they were lathi charged and water cannon pressed against them.
Those who sat on the dharna in the middle of the road were lifted forcibly and powerful water cannon sprinkled against them including two women.
One of the policemen was also hurt by a stone pelting demonstrator.
It may be recalled that one of the ministers Anirudh Singh in Congress government today raised this issue in the assembly emphatically saying that the minorities are illegally settling in Himachal Pradesh and constructing illegal mosques. This is solely illegal and the demography of the state is being disturbed said the minister urging the chief minister to lodge FIR and initiate action against the illegal construction of the mosque. What is interesting to note here is that while the CM Sukhu was sleeping in the assembly while his minister was speaking on the changing demography the BJP lawmakers were clapping.
The police has imposed Nyay Sanhita 163 but there are hundreds of women, youth and senior citizens including the Hindu organisations collected at Sanjhouli violating the prohibitory orders.
The demonstrators wanted the felling of the unauthorised mosque failing which they will make the movement widespread .
Slogans of Jaishri Ram are also being raised regularly. The angered demonstrators said that few anti social elements had attacked some people and took refuge inside the mosque.
This led to people protesting saying that the trouble makers take refuge in this illegal mosque and the government should demolish it forthwith.
The matter is subjudice and the next hearing is due for October 5. The people say that since the matter is in the Court of law, the building should be sealed till further orders.
The people are furious because the population of the minorities is multiplying in HP and the demography is also being destroyed simultaneously. Those living in Sanjouli are facing social insecurity as outsiders come here and take refuge in the mosque. It has become difficult for the local populace and their girls , children to walk freely and ensure their safety and security said one of the women residents participating in the demonstration.
