The disastrous consequences of massive Tehri Dam are being confronted even today after several decades with the evacuees facing tremendous problems especially after the administration not adequately fulfilling promises given to them after being evacuated from dam site after their houses were fully submerged into the dam. The former lawmaker of Tehri Garhwal and the BJP candidate from Tehri constituency waiting for his poll outcome on March 10, Kishore Upadhyay said that this is really worrisome that after several decades the promises given to the evacuees n uprooted villagers from THDC dam site have not been fulfilled, putting them in a state of immense quandary.
The house of the deputy village head of Bhatinda Gaon Rajendra Prasad has been fully damaged, with family members saved fortunately by God’s grace. The entire house fell like a house of cards. Consequently the entire village n villagers are in a state of immense panic and apprehensions. He demanded immediate positive action in this regard by given them adequate financial compensation to enable construction of a new house as the family is literally on roads under the open sun.
The administration, lawmakers and the caretaker CM should come to the rescue of the distressed families and ensure future safeguards as well demanded for lawmaker of Tehri Garhwal Kishore Upadhyay.
