HARISH RAWAT AT JANTAR MANTAR TO EXPRESS UTTARAKHAND’S SOLIDARITY WITH STRUGGLING WRESTLERS

The Congress party is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that maximum support is extended to struggling wrestlers and political mileage derived from their sit in at Jantar Mantar as not a single day is left when its leader do not visit the Dharna site and express their solidarity with the cause.

Till now several Congress leaders have visited Jantar Mantar to express their solidarity with struggling wrestlers majority of them women demanding not only ousting the sitting president of Wrestling Federation of India from his post held for more than a decade but also sending him behind bars.

The Congress General secretary Priyanka Gandhi, former Haryana CM Bhupender Hooda, MP n his son Deepender Hooda, Satyapal Malik, former J & K Governor etc had Already visited Jantar Mantar and stayed their for quite some time also addressing them. The accusations of protesting women wrestlers are very serious about sexual harrasment and physical assaults on the WFI chief n MP Brijmohan Sharan Singh claiming to have several credible evidences to substantiate their charges. However, despite the ruling party not submitting to their pressure the hon’ble supreme Court had directed the Delhi Police to register FIR against Brijbhushan Sharan Singh which took some time but the struggling wrestlers took it in right earnest as their first step towards victory continuing their protest Dharna at Jantar Mantar further demanding, putting him behind bar and ousting from the chairmanship of WFI.

Today, the former chief minister of Uttarakhand octogenarian Harish Rawat visited Jantar Mantar and expressed his solidarity with the struggling wrestlers demanding immediate action against the WFI chief and accusing him of allegedly outraging the modesty of our women wrestlers who’d brought laurels for the nation by winning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in various prestigious international competitions. In a brief social media post after visiting Jantar Mantar and boosting the morale if the struggling wrestlers Harish Rawat wrote : These sportsmen have contributed in raising the name of the nation as our tricolour in the entire world. When they stand on the Podium wearing the medals, the head of Bharat mata is raised high with pride. Unfortunately today these brave and outstanding daughters who are equated with Lord Durga and counted as our most revered honour have to relentlessly struggle to demand justice and get the FIRs lodged for their obnoxious exploitation, running from pillar to post. Our sportsmen and sports women are sitting in Dharna at Jantar Mantar. I on behalf of Uttarakhand have presented myself in this Dharna af Jantar Mantar to express our emotional solidarity with them.

Meanwhile a senior journalist Habib Akhtar has in a statement expressed his immense annoyance over politicians of the ruling party dividing sportsman over caste and community considerations.

The senior journalist while expressing his disappointment and disenchantment over this narrow practice wrote in Hindi :

The politics of hatred and divisiveness of the last 9 years has divided people on caste lines on issues like sports.
