Five year old child killed by a man eater in NISNEE village in Pauri Garhwal district !
THE man eaters in Uttarakhand have created havoc in the peaceful state – killing human beings one after another and so are tragic accidents enhancing to great extent.
Not a day is left when news about the human kills at the behest of the openly wandering carnivores take place making women, children and old aged their immediate prey.
The situation has reached to such a pass that now man eaters are entering houses not only on roadsides, in villages but in towns too despite their being densely populated and hectic activities going around.
The situation have become so critical that in just a year till July about 35 persons have become the prey of these man eaters with 115 people injured several grievously.
The moot point n question now is – when will the human wild animals especially carnivores confrontation come to an end ?
There have been several villages being emptied due to people shifting elsewhere fearing threat to their school going children and women folks working in their farmlands from these deadly maneaters.
Just today i. e. on 22 nd November 2022 a five year old child was mercilessly grabbed by a man eaters and brutally killed in Pabo block’s NISHNI VILLAGE in Pauri Garhwal district.
The villagers are badly terrorised and in anger. The man eaters roaming around freely in surrounding villages of Pauri Garhwal have posed direct threat to the lives of the villagers.
Two villages of Pauri Garhwal district namely Bharatpur in Chowbattakhal, Chaundkot and Godabadi village of Dugadda have already become ghost villages with inhabitants of these villages having shifted to Kotdwar or Dehradun etc for fear of man eater attacks.
According to a senior journalist Gunanand Jakhmola of Parvatjan quoting wildlife department’s statistics, in Uttarakhand from January to July about 35 persons men, women, children have been killed by man eaters in various locations of Garhwal n Kumaon Uttarakhand and more than 114 people were injured some grievously.
Majority of these attacks were from man eater leopards, some being by wild bears etc.
In 2021, 45 persons have died in human wild life ( carnivore) confrontations while 145 injured.
Similarly in 2020 , 62 persons have died in human n carnivore confrontation with good number of people injured.
There have been no statistics with the wild life department after July but unconfirmed report say that about fifty people have fallen prey to man eaters losing their precious lives.
The increasing traffic, deforestation, construction activities near dense forests and construction of commercial buildings, hotels , resorts, offices near road sides and near rivers n streams including widening of roads etc have made the lives of wild animals a hell compelling them to come towards villages n human habitats in search of food n in the absence of domestic pets due to immense migration and destruction of flora and fauna due to massive wild life fires during summers too, human beings have become their easy prey.
Hence the increasing onslaught of man eaters on human population. Nishnee is the village of former MLA n MLC of Garhwal Narendra Singh Bhandari and Sultan Singh Bhandari. Narendra Singh Bhandari was also minister of Education of Uttarakhand during ND Tiwari’s tenure as UK CM.
