Eminent cricketer turned politician MP Gautam Gambhir bids adieu to active politics

The eminent Indian cricketer and Lok Sabha MP from East Delhi one of the biggest and largest populated parliamentary constituencies not only in the national capital but in India as well, Gautam Gambhir has formally taken a decision to quit active politics to concentrate on cricket which is his passionate game. The 42 years old MP, one of the youngest to win the Lok Sabha seat from East Delhi Gautam Gambhir’s name was being mentioned in various news reports as his parliamentary ticket being cut this time. Probably, before hearing from the party forums of his ticket being cut, the intelligent cricketer turned politician preferred to say adieu to active police. The international cricketer posted the information about his quitting active police on social media platform X revealing that he has requested Hon’ble Party President to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments. It may be recalled that in various news reports the name of Gautam Gambhir, another MP and former health minister Dr.Harshvardhan, Meenakshi Lekhi and Hansraj Hans ( MPs) from Delhi were appearing as the candidates being left out by party high command this times out of 7 seats with three sitting MPs of BJP to be continued. The BJP currently has MPs on all the seven seats of Delhi and is seriously considering cutting four tickets out of seven in Delhi which included Gambhir’s name as well, thus prompting the cricketer to quit before the party announces it. There have been ample instances when celebrities like Bollywood actors and cricketers, sportsmen who curiously join politics and get elected overwhelmingly bug after a single term quit politics saying permanent adieu. The examples of Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Sachin Tendulkar asRS MP and several others stars have proved this point beyond doubt but actors like Hema Malini, Jaya Bhandari and Sunil Dutt are exceptions.
