Doon Varsity bags 4 out of 6 Governor’s Best Research Awards

Dehradun, Apr 22: Shining bright on the academic landscape of Uttarakhand and adding yet another feather on its cap, Doon University has bagged 4 out of 6 Governor’s Research Awards given to scholars from academic institutions from across the state and meant for excellence in extraordinary, original and creative contribution towards research and innovation.

Felicitating the six awardees at a ceremony organized at Rajbhawan, Lt Gen (Retd) Gurmit Singh, Hon’ble Governor of the state and the Chancellor, said that coming times are the times of knowledge, science and research that form the basis for development, progress and prosperous life.

Dr Achlesh Daverey of Doon University and Dr Shweta Suri of GB Pant University bagged the First Prize that fetched them an award of Rs 50,000. Dr Aishwarya Pratap of Doon University and Dr Anil Kumar of UPES received the Second Prize with a prize of Rs 30,000 while Dr Surender Singh Suthar and Dr Rashi Mishra of Doon University were felicitated with a prize of Rs 20,000 respectively.

Congratulating the research scholars, Doon University Vice Chancellor Professor Surekha Dangwal expressed gratitude to Hon’ble governor for his foresight, vision and sensitivity towards higher education and for his efforts to promote and motivate young minds towards research and innovation.

“With a deep sense of honor and pride, I congratulate all the four scholars of Doon University and one each from UPES and GB Pant University on this occasion. Doon University is committed to fulfill its mandate of setting highest standards in undertaking research and innovation,” the Vice Chancellor said.

Stating that Doon University is marching towards achieving newer milestones,
excellence in teaching and research, Professor Dangwal emphasized that the university is fast moving towards excellence in teaching, learning, research and other domains, making its presence felt nationally within a very short span of time during its life journey.

The idea of this University was conceived in the context of creating a centre of excellence in higher education and to provide lead in frontier areas of teaching, learning and research, she said, adding that the university is proud of having highly qualified and committed faculty members and visiting eminent personalities contributing to this narrative of constant growth of this academic institution. “Receiving 4 out of 6 awards by Doon University from across the state is a manifestation of this hard work and commitment,” Professor Dangwal said.

Faculty members from across the schools and departments congratulated the awardees on this occasion. Vice Chancellors, Professors and Deans of various universities, research scholars and students were present on the occasion.
