“Correct yourself, or I will hit the streets again”: Ramdev turns on Centre, slams paper leaks and job scams on eve of Independence Day

DEHRADUN | August 15, 2026

For the first time in 12 years, yoga guru Baba Ramdev has come out openly against the paper leaks warning to “mend ways” or face a nationwide agitation against what he called “massive corruption, paper leaks and the sale of jobs and admissions.”

Speaking ahead of Independence Day, Ramdev said there is “hungaama” across the country. “There are no teachers in schools. There is no education. No stationary, books , schools without toilets and dilapidated conditions. In most schools, question papers are leaked. Even those who pass Classes 10 and 12 find their marks mean nothing. In colleges, they don’t get admission,” he said.

He trained his guns on government recruitment, alleging that 99% of it is tainted by scam and corruption. “Jobs are being given on party lines, on political bais, after pams are greased on a massive scale. Employment is being allegedly accorded on communal and caste lines. Candidates of the ruling party are absorbed everywhere. Those from middle and lower middle class families have no place in government jobs,” Ramdev said.

Calling it a betrayal of democracy, he said the situation was “against loktantra and completely arbitrary.”

“On one hand we say _Satyameva Jayate_ and make it our national motto. On the other hand, candidates are allegedly being charged Rs 50 lakh, Rs 1 crore clandestinely for admissions. If students and youth have to come on the roads and stage movements at Jantar Mantar and elsewhere, then how will justice arrive?” he asked.

Ramdev, who led massive anti-corruption protests over a decade ago, issued a direct warning to the leadership.

“I am not a supporter of anarchy in the name of movements. But it is also true that there is a majority of scams in the country. Therefore I request you to amend yourself. Else Baba Ramdev will again step in for an andolan, as before, against black money,” he said.

“This country does not belong to a few political parties, President, PM, MPs or MLAs. It belongs to 140 crore countrymen asserted Yoga Guru – Ram Dev of Patanjali. It is not the property of a few who are ruling. The countrymen have the same rights and duties as are of the President and Prime Minister. This right is independence. The Constitution has given us this freedom,” he added.

The statement marks a sharp shift for Ramdev, who has largely backed the government in recent years. His decision to speak out on the eve of Independence Day has triggered debate across political and social circles, with students’ groups and job aspirants sharing clips of his remarks widely.

The government is yet to respond to Ramdev’s allegations of paper leaks and recruitment scams.
