A bus with 40 to 50 passengers falls in a gorge near Simdi village in Pauri Garhwal

Uttarakhand, especially Garhwal is prone for deadly accidents. If you go for genuine statistics you’ll find tremendous deaths in road accidents, majority of them being after the vehicles falling in gorges. This is immensely tragic as death numbers are reportedly thirty two though not confirmed. The DM, SSP n other senior police officers including the SDRF team have reached the accident site n the rescue operation is in full swing. Despite all this, what is most worrisome us the fact that these deadly accidents are not being controlled nor any efforts being made by the government of the day to devise ways and means to lessen these deadly accidents. The transport department is a mere spectator and those meeting the tragic end, their families hardly get the minimum financial monetary compensation. People are dying in accidents like carrots and reddish.

Just yesterday a tragic accident happened near village Simdi, ( Lansdowne) under the jurisdiction of Pauri Garhwal district where a fully loaded bus going in a marriage function full of baraaties fell down into a deep gorge killing several marriage passengers and injuring others grievously. According to the latest news around 40 to 50 persons were travelling in this bus going in a marriage party.

The exact reason of the bus falling in the deep gorge could not be ascertained till now. The police, SDRF team etc have reached the accidental spot and are trying to retrieve the dead bodies as we as the grievously injured. The Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed his deepest condolences on this tragedy.

He tweeted : Acknowledged an unfortunate news about a bus carrying passengers falling in a gorge near Simdi village in Puri Garhwal district. The disaster management department’s officials have reached the accidental spot and are providing every possible relief to the victims tweeted CM Dhami.

There have been several such accidents in Uttarakhand, Garhwal and Kumaon divisions but the government of the day has failed completely to assess the possibilities of such accidents in advance and controlling the situation in time.

    Govt needs to urgently stop futher pilgrims to Holy Shrine of Kedarnath due to back to back 4-5 Avalanches in about 1 week just 7 Kms away from the temple ! Pilgrims must be sent back whether they like it or not. It may cause some economic loss but UK will have to live with its geographical location
