Nightingale of India veteran melodious singer Lata Mangeshkar is no more. Nation shocked

Popularly known as the nightingale of India, the singing queen known world over having sung more than thirty thousand songs making the first prime Minister of India Jawahar Lal Nehru literally cry in tears when she paid tributes to the bravehearts of Indo China war who sacrificed themselves through her melodious song ” Ai Mere Vatan Ke logon, jara aank mein bhar lo pani”, Lata Mangeshkar has left for heavenly abode this morning in a Mumbai hospital sending shock waves in the country.

Conferred with the third highest civilian Award Padma Shree in 1969, second highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan in 1999 and the first highest civilian Award in 1999 and France’s highest civilian award, “Officer of the Legion of Honour in 2009”, eminent iconic singer and highly lauded by billions of her fans world over nonagenarian Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last at the age of 92 at the Mumbai’s Breach Candi Hospital this morning, informed by her sister Usha Mangeshkar.

The eldest of the sister Lata Mangeshkar was a bachelor who left behind her three sisters Meena Khadikar, eminent singer Asha Bhonsle, Usha Mangeshkar and only brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar.

Lata Mangeshkar was admitted in Beach Candy hospital about more than two weeks, ago and was in ICU after she infected Covid and other complications. Her condition deteriorated on February 5, after which she was kept on aggressive therapy and on ventilator. She struggled for her life tremendously finally submitting to the wishes of Almighty, breathing her last.

Her death was confirmed by CEO of Beach Candy Hospital Dr. N. Santhanan.

The president of India Ram Nath Kovind expressed his deepest condolences on Lataji’ sad demise terming her as an Artist born once in a century. He tweeted : Lataji’s demise is heart breaking for me, as it is for millions the world over. In her vast range of songs, rendering the essence and beauty of India, generations found expression of their inner most emotions. A Bharat Ratna Lataji’s accomplishments will remain incomparable as artists like her are born once in centuries. Lata Deedi was an exceptional human being, full of warmth, as found when ever I met her. The devine voice has gone quite for ever but her melodies will remain immortal, echoing in eternity.

My condolences to her family and admirers everywhere tweeted President Ram Nath Kovind on her sad demise.

The prime minister Narendra Modi while expressing his immense shock over Lataji’s demise tweeted : I am anguished beyond words. The kind and caring Lata Deedi has left us. She leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled. The coming generations will remember her as a stalwart of Indian culture, whose melodious voice has an unparalleled ability to mesmerise people tweeted PM Narendra Modi.

Praising the iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar prime minister Modi said : Lata Deedi’s songs brought out a variety of emotions. She closely witnessed the transitions of the Indian film world for decades as beyond films she was also passionate about India’s growth. She always wanted to see a strong and developed India wrote PM in his second tweet. The former Congress president Rahul Gandhi also expressed his tributes on the demise of the iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar in his tweet :

Received the sad news of Lata Mangeshkarji’s demise. She remained the most beloved voice of India for many decades. Her golden voice is immortal and will continue to echo in the hearts of her fans. Condolences to her family, friends and fans tweeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
