Kishore Upadhyay removed from all party positions related to election committees by Congress observer Devendra Yadav
The former chief of Uttarakhand Congress and leader of the forests rights movement who is in strained relations with the chairman of the election campaign committee and former CM Harish Rawat, Kishore Upadhyay has been shunted out of all the positions related to Uttarakhand election committee of Congress of the state. According to the latest news floating in, the central observer – incharge of Uttarakhand Congress n national secretary of the party Devendra Yadav has today issued a letter to Kishore Upadhyay liberating him from all the positions of election related committees allegedly accusing him of clandestinely meeting the BJP leaders amounting to hatching a conspiracy to weaken the Congress party.
The senior Congress leader Kishore Upadhyay who had worked with the former prime minister and former general secretary AICC Rajiv Gandhi for quite a long time with unflinching faith and loyalty, being two term MLA from Tehri Garhwal losing from Sahaspur, last time charging Rawat for deliberately leading to his defeat has been charged by Congress leaders of hobnobbing with BJP leaders clandestinely and weakening the Congress party in its campaign to defeat the saffron party.
The letter from Devendra Yadav, Incharge Uttarakhand has unambiguously accused Upadhyay of hobnobbing with BJP and other political parties with a view to undermine the fight against the maladministration, misgovernance corrupt and all round corruption aided and abetted by the BJP leadership. Since, despite multiple warnings you have indulged in anti party activities, hobnobbing with BJP, to weaken the party, you are removed from all party positions subject to further action said the latter issued to senior state party leader Kishore Upadhyay by Devendra Yadav.
There had been rumours against Kishore Upadhyay by his rival faction leaders of planning to join the BJP, the charges denied by Upadhyay terming them as baseless allegations by his ardent foes to malign him with an intention to sideline from the mainstream Congress politics. Kishore Upadhyay had termed them as mere rumours and fake news saying that his meetings were just courtesy call to convince them to include his demands of Jal, Jungle aur Jameen of Vanadhikaar Andolan in the menifesto of all the political parties in wider public interest. Upadhyay had met the organising Secretary of Uttarakhand BJP in the late evening at his flat in Dehradun few days ago where the Uttarakhand BJP incharge and national general secretary Prahalad Joshi was also present.
He stated there for some time. This led to quite a furore n uproar in Congress corridors blaming Kishore Upadhyay of weakening the Congress party and joining BJP. The majority of these leaders were from Harish Rawat camp. Upadhyay had also met the Rajya Sabha MP and BJP’s national media incharge Anil Baluni separately. Baluni being the most trusted leader of BJP high command and highly instrumental in enabling entry of several Congress leaders n Congress MLAs in BJP few months ago. This has raised doubts against Upadhyay among the Congress leaders to the core with Harish Rawat group becoming more active to sideline him say sources.
Kishore had earlier also accused Harish Rawat of sidelining him when he was the strong contender for Rajya Sabha while the latter was CM in 2016 -17, making his protege, former Lok Sabha MP from Almora Pradeep Tamta the RS MP from Uttarakhand allegedly ditching him. However, the fact remains that Kishore Upadhyay had stood firmly with Harish Rawat during his thick and thin while he was CM in 2016, 17 when several leaders and MLAs including former CM Vijay Bahuguna, then cabinet ministers Dr Harak Singh Rawat, Yashpal Arya, his son n several MLAs of Congress had defected to BJP destabilising the then Congress government leading to polls, with Congress losing finally in 2017.
Meanwhile according to a latest development, the Congress president Sonia Gandhi has appointed former AICC general secretary Mohan Prakash as AICC senior observer to Uttarakhand for overseeing election campaign management and coordination with immediate effect. Mohan Prakash has been directed to discharge his duty in close coordination with AICC Incharge, Uttarakhand.
