Dehradun, 24 September 2026 – In yet another incident raising questions over the law and order situation in Dehradun, an alleged attempt to kidnap a woman in broad daylight at Sahastradhara has shocked residents.
According to information, the incident took place in the Sahastradhara area when a young woman was travelling on her scooty. Two miscreants, who were allegedly stalking her in a car, stopped their vehicle near her and tried to forcibly pull her into the car in full public view.
However, the woman showed courage and resisted the attempt. She raised a loud alarm and created a lot of noise, which drew the attention of people nearby. On hearing her screams, people from a nearby hospital and passersby rushed to her rescue. Seeing people gathering, the miscreants fled from the spot leaving their attempt unsuccessful.
The incident, which happened in a busy area during daytime, has created panic and anger among locals, with many saying that such brazen attempts indicate that criminals have no fear of police. Residents have demanded increased patrolling, CCTV surveillance and immediate arrest of the accused.
Police sources said that a complaint has been received and CCTV footage of the area is being scanned to identify the car and the accused. Further investigation is underway.
