Advocate Navneesh Negi of Uttarakhand High Court threatened of death through a letter from Yamraj

The senior advocate of the Nainital High Court Navneesh Negi who is fighting the cases of Ankita Bhandari and Mohd. Deepak has received a threatening letter from someone identifying himself as “Yamraj”, the Lord of Death, threatening him with dire consequences. The letter is not readable with the naked eye but on examining it through a lens, it reveals threats that he would be killed in fatal accidents or through physical attacks. Taking serious note of the incident, the Bar Council of the Nainital High Court has held a meeting condemning the threat and has demanded an immediate in-depth probe into the matter to nab the culprit and punish him stringently, observing that if such threats are not dealt with seriously they may prove fatal in future. The letter, which is written in different languages and is difficult to decipher, warrants immediate forensic examination to ascertain its origin and authenticity, while the legal fraternity has expressed solidarity with the senior advocate and urged the authorities to ensure his safety and security. The matter has been reported to the police and the investigation seems to be in progress.
