In 1992, during the New Delhi Parliamentary elections, I had the privilege of interacting closely with Rajesh Khanna (Kaka) when he contested as the Congress candidate from the New Delhi Parliamentary Constituency.
On my suggestion, Kaka graciously hosted a luncheon for media professionals covering his election campaign at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi. This rare photograph captures that memorable occasion, where I am seen with Rajesh Khanna and the then Chief Reporter of Navbharat Times, along with fellow journalists.
Rajesh Khanna’s candidature had the blessings of the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, and the campaign remains one of the most memorable political events I covered as a journalist.
This photograph is more than a memory—it reflects an era when journalism, public life, and mutual respect between political leaders and the media created enduring relationships.
