Heartwrenching tragic accident occured at Munshiyari, Pithoragarh where pick up vehicle plunged into a deep gorge

News of a very tragic road accident is coming from Munsyari, a border area of ​​Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand where on Sunday late evening, a pickup vehicle went out of control and fell into a deep ditch on the Munsyari-Milam motor road in Malla Johar area. The accident is said to be so severe that while the vehicle was badly damaged, two people died on the spot.

According to information, this accident happened near Radgadi Rupasiyabagd on the Dhapa-Milam road.

It is reported that the pickup truck was returning after delivering supplies to the Laspa area. The driver had also given a lift to some people along the way.

Around 5 p.m., the vehicle suddenly lost control and plunged into a ravine hundreds of feet deep, landing on the banks of the Gori River. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) was the first to receive information about the incident, and personnel immediately rushed to the scene.

The tehsil administration, police department, and other relief agencies were also alerted.

Ambulances and administrative teams from Munsyari have been dispatched to the scene.

The location of the accident is considered extremely remote and without network.

This is why, even hours after the accident, no accurate information was available from the scene.

Administrative officials also found it challenging to reach the scene and conduct relief operations. Photos and videos circulating on social media show the vehicle lying completely submerged on the banks of the Gori River.

According to local sources, the pickup vehicle is believed to be from Kundan Pangti.

The vehicle was carrying a few other people, including the driver. It is reported that two people were traveling in the vehicle while returning from Lapa, while another person also hitched a lift along the way.

According to the District Disaster Management Department, the accident site is located on extremely dangerous mountain slopes.

The ravine is so deep that rescue teams are facing significant difficulties descending. The late evening darkness also hampered the pace of the rescue operation.

Considering the gravity of the situation, an SDRF team was also dispatched from Askot.

In the accident, 30-year-old Manendra Ram, a resident of Dharchula, and 28-year-old Prakash, a native of Nepal, died on the spot, while the driver, Jagat Mehta, a resident of Tejam, narrowly escaped death as he was thrown out of the vehicle in time.

ITBP, Police, SDRF and local administration jointly carried out a relief and rescue operation for 8 hours continuously and brought the bodies of the deceased out of the ditch and brought them to the road after which, on Monday morning, they were transported by vehicle to Munsyari, where ay Panchnama was completed and the bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem. This tragic accident has created an atmosphere of concern and grief throughout Munsyari and the Johar Valley region.
