Criminals once again surrendered to the strictness of the Dehradun SSP Pramendra Dobal

An accused was injured in a police encounter.

A notorious criminal was fleeing the scene after spotting police during a police checkpoint.

When chased, the accused opened fire on the police team. The accused was injured in the retaliatory fire in self-defense.


Under Operation Prahar, during the intensive checking campaign being conducted in the entire district on the instructions of SSP Dehradun, on the midnight of 16.04.2026, information was received through the Police Control Room about a suspicious white coloured SWIFT car No. UK08TA-9193 roaming in Peeli Kothi, Harrawala. On which the personnel posted at outpost Harrawala reached the spot, then the driver of the said white coloured SWIFT car No. UK08TA-9193, on seeing the police personnel, started running from Peeli Kothi towards the highway.
While checking at the barrier near Police Chowki Harrawala, the police team tried to stop the said car, but instead of stopping, the driver hit the sliding barrier placed on the road at a high speed and started running towards Haridwar, who was chased by the police team and the higher officer was informed in this regard.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, alerted all checkpoints and issued strict instructions to conduct intensive checking at police stations/posts and barriers, to encircle the vehicle, to stop it, and to take legal action against the driver.

As the suspicious vehicle sped towards Haridwar, a police team pursued and attempted to stop it.

Seeing the police team chasing him, the said car driver’s vehicle collided with the NH board on the side of the highway about 01 km ahead of Kuanwala and he ran towards the nearby forest and fired at the police team with the intention to kill them, the police also fired back in self-defense, the accused got injured in the retaliatory firing in self-defense, a country-made pistol of 315 bore and 02 empty cartridges and one live bullet were recovered from his possession.
On questioning the accused, he gave his name as Krantanath, son of Mausamnath. The accused was immediately taken to Doon Hospital for treatment. On receiving information about the incident, SSP Dehradun reached the hospital and collected information regarding the incident from the officers present there.

On enquiring about the injured accused, it came to light that the accused was wanted in FIR No. 74/26 under Section 305A/331(4)/317(2)/3(5) BNS registered at Kotwali Doiwala and FIR No. 15/26 under Section 305A/331(4)/317(2)/3(5) BNS registered at Police Station Ranipokhari, against whom several cases of theft, Arms Act etc. are registered in different police stations.
A case is being registered at the Doiwala police station under relevant sections for the accused firing at the police team with the intent to kill and for the recovery of an illegal pistol.
