Uttarakhand has shown the entire nation a new path by implementing the Uniform Civil Code : PM


Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 210-km-long Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor by pressing a remote button at a ceremony held at Jaswant Singh Army Ground, Garhi Cantt on Tuesday. Earlier, the Prime Minister offered prayers after visiting the Shri Daat Kali Temple.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his address at the ceremony by wishing the countrymen a happy Baisakhi and Bihu.
He said that in the coming days, the pilgrimage to the sacred Char Dham located in Uttarakhand will also begin, which is eagerly awaited by devotees across the country.

The construction of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor will also provide convenience to Char Dham pilgrims. He said that the state of Uttarakhand has entered its 26th year of existence, and now the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has also been added to the state’s progress.

Paying tribute to Constitution-maker Baba Saheb Dr. BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, the Prime Minister said that the decisions taken by his government over the past decade have enhanced the dignity of the country’s Constitution.

Following the abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir and the end of Maoism, the Indian Constitution has now been implemented throughout the country.

He said that Uttarakhand, in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution, has shown the entire nation a new path by implementing the Uniform Civil Code.

He said that Baba Saheb’s life was dedicated to providing justice to the poor, the deprived, and the exploited. The Central Government, in the same spirit, is striving to provide social justice to every poor person. Balanced development of the country, facilities for all, and prosperity for all can only serve as a means of social justice. Therefore, Baba Saheb strongly advocated for industrialization and modern infrastructure.

Referring to the role of roads, railways, ropeways, and waterways in the country’s development, the Prime Minister said that some people turn to astrology to interpret palm lines to predict the future. Today, roads are becoming the nation’s destiny lines. For the past decade, the government has been engaged in building such destiny lines for a developed India.

These destiny lines will not only form the foundation of the economy but will also guarantee prosperity for generations to come, and this is Modi’s guarantee.

He said that in the past decade, the government has made unprecedented investments in building these development lines. Until 2014, not even Rs 2 lakh crore could be spent on infrastructure projects across the country, whereas today this amount has increased sixfold to over Rs 12 lakh crore.

During this period, work is underway on infrastructure projects worth Rs 2.25 lakh crore in Uttarakhand alone. The Prime Minister said that once generations in the villages of Uttarakhand would grow old waiting for roads, but today, due to the double engine government, roads are reaching every village.

This is bringing deserted villages back to life. Projects like the Chardham Highway Project, the rail project, the Kedarnath and Hemkund ropeways are shaping the destiny of Uttarakhand.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the speed and scale at which 21st-century India is working is being discussed worldwide. Within the past few months, the Delhi Metro has expanded, reaching Meerut, an airport has opened in Noida, and now the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor has also been launched.

Appealing to the people of Uttarakhand and visiting tourists, the Prime Minister said that the heritage of Devbhoomi is very sacred, and it is our duty to keep such places clean. Dumping garbage and throwing plastic bottles everywhere hurts the sanctity of Devbhoomi. Therefore, it is our responsibility to keep the pilgrimage sites of Devbhoomi clean and beautiful.
The Prime Minister said that next year, a divine, grand, and clean Kumbh Mela will be held in Haridwar. Along with this, the Nanda Devi Raj Jat will also be held soon in Uttarakhand.

This journey also exemplifies Uttarakhand’s unique cultural consciousness, in which Mother Nanda is treated as a daughter and is bid farewell with respect. Paying obeisance to Mother Nanda, he said that mothers and sisters play a major role in building a developed India.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said that after four decades, Parliament has passed the Nari Shakti Vandan Act to provide political representation to women, ensuring 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. There should be no delay in implementing it now. It should be implemented in the 2029 Lok Sabha and subsequent state assembly elections. In keeping with this national sentiment, a special session of Parliament is being held starting April 16th.

Referring to Uttarakhand’s military tradition, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said that the country cannot forget the bravery of Baba Jaswant Singh, who was martyred in 1962. In order to honor soldiers, the central government has implemented One Rank, One Pension and deposited more than Rs 1.25 lakh crore in the accounts of ex-servicemen, which has also benefited thousands of families in Uttarakhand.
