Launch a special campaign against people with criminal tendencies”…Dhami gave instructions to DGP Deepak Seth : Dhami accords instructions to the DGP Uttarakhand
Criminals will be garlanded with shoes, this will be their funeral. They will be dragged out of their holes and corners and killed, this will be Operation Prahar."

To curb rising crime and improve law and order in Uttarakhand, the police have launched ‘Operation Prahar’ (Operation Prahar) on the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. This campaign is being run to take strict action against pending cases like murder, hooliganism and illegal activities. After the death of a 74-year-old retired Brigadier due to a stray bullet, the Uttarakhand Police is all set to launch a special campaign named “Operation Prahar” to strengthen law and order in the state capital.

Retired Army Brigadier MK Joshi died in Dehradun on Monday morning after being shot when a car occupant opened fire on another vehicle. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami asked the police to launch a massive checking drive.
Dhami said: “Law and order in Uttarakhand will not be compromised under any circumstances.” He also asked the police to launch a massive checking campaign and directed DGP Deepam Seth to launch a special drive against people with criminal tendencies. Dhami said, “Public safety is the state government’s top priority and every necessary step will be taken to ensure it,” and warned that “strict action will be taken” against officials who are negligent.
SSP Pramod Doval said: “The men in the Scorpio waited outside the club until morning and then chased the Fortuner. During the firing, the brigadier, who was out for a morning walk, was shot in the chest.”
Four of the accused have been arrested so far, while seven teams have been formed to apprehend the four absconding accused. As immediate disciplinary action, Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar, in-charge of the Kuthal Gate outpost, and Deputy Excise Inspector Soban Singh have been suspended for negligence in duty.
In my understanding, the primary objective of “Operation Prahar” is to make the state “crime-free” and instill fear in criminals. This should also include arresting criminals, taking action against illegal weapons/encroachments, and keeping a close watch on unverified tenants/bars/pubs. This operation has previously been conducted nationwide against cybercriminals and has been quite successful. The objective of this campaign should be to move from “reactive policing” (action after an incident) to “preemptive action” (crime prevention).
This initiative of the current government is a tried and tested and successful “criminal Chanakya policy.” Therefore, I am not only hopeful but confident that it will prove to be a resounding success, and like Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand will soon become a “crime-free” state.
