The Supreme Court has taken a strict stance on delays in pronouncing judgments after reserving orders.
The apex court has indicated that it will soon issue time-bound guidelines for High Courts across the country to address this issue.
During the hearing, the Court observed that unnecessary delays in the judicial process not only affect the rights of the concerned parties but also raise questions about the credibility of the judiciary. It firmly stated: Delay in justice us equivalent to denied of justice.
According to sources, the proposed guidelines may ensure that judgments are delivered within a fixed time frame after the conclusion of hearings. There may also be provisions for regular review and monitoring of long-pending reserved judgments.
The Supreme Court is also emphasizing greater transparency. In cases of unusual delay, reasons may need to be recorded, and accountability could be fixed where necessary.
Legal experts believe that this move will bring speed to the justice delivery system and reduce prolonged waiting periods for litigants. It is also expected to strengthen public trust in the judiciary.
