Chamoli police arrests a culprit who stole a Mukut of gold worth rupees five lakhs , Kudos
The local police of Badrinath Temple area under the jurisdiction of Chamoli police administration has succeeded in arresting a thief who claims himself to be a Sadhu ( saint) for stealing a Golden mukut studded with precious stones ( pearls) of Lord Narayan from the temple situated at Brahmrishi Sadhna Sangh Ashram in Badrinath Dham costing rupees five lakhs. The Chamoli police has found the invaluable Mukut of Lord Narayan with 4,500 rupees and a bag. Brahmachari Bhagwat Das filed a complaint at Kotwali Badrinath alleging that on the night of July 24th, Sadhu Raghavdas, who was staying at the ashram, stole Lord Narayan’s gold crown and cash from the temple. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 305(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and began an investigation. Superintendent of Police Surjeet Singh Panwar, considering the case a highly sensitive matter involving religious beliefs, formed a special police team. Based on technical evidence, a network of informants, and persistent raids, police arrested the accused, Raghavram Pathak alias Raghavdas (57), a resident of Munimpur, Bhinga police station, Shravasti district (Uttar Pradesh), near the Badrish Ganga Vatika Gate (Hanumanchatti Road) on Wednesday. During interrogation, the accused confessed to stealing Lord Narayan’s golden crown from the ashram’s temple and cash from the bag of Prabhudas, who was staying there. Based on his information, the stolen jewel-encrusted crown, ₹4,500 in cash, and a black bag were recovered. Following the recovery, Section 317(2) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been added to the case. Police have initiated the process of presenting the accused to court.
