Dense fog claims precious life of Yuvraj

SUSHIL DOBHAL
Dense fog claimed another life. Software engineer Yuvraj Mehta was traveling from Gurugram to the Tata Urica Park in Sector 150, Noida.
Near ATS Le Grand, his Grand Vitara car broke through a drain wall and fell into a 30-foot-deep swamp filled with water.
As soon as the car fell, it began to sink.
Yuvraj somehow got out, climbed onto the roof of the car and called his father, “Papa, save me, I don’t want to die.” The information was given on Dial-112.
The father, police and fire brigade teams reached the spot with a crane, but due to dense fog, Yuvraj and the rescue team were unable to see each other.
Yuvraj kept shouting with his mobile phone flashlight on, but his voice faded away after a while. His body was recovered after about two and a half hours of effort.
The incident, which occurred late Friday night, raised serious questions about safety measures and road risks in fog.
