Garhwal United wins against Kickstart in their second IWL 2025 – 26 Match at Kolkata



Today, the Garhwal United FC, in their yellow jerseys played its second match against Kickstart FC, in black jerseys at National center for excellence, Kolkata under cold and sunny weather.
GUFC won its first match against Sesa FA(3-1) but Kickstart lost its first match against Sethu FC(2-1).
The match started with Garhwal doing well and got its first corner in 2nd minute followed by another in 12th minute of the game but could not convert them in its favour and in between kept on moving in the game slowly and steadily with short passes. KFC also attempted at opponents goal at 10th minute followed by a corner in 16th minute but both went over the goalpost. KFC also got a close opportunity at 21 minute and Garhwal in 42nd minute through a corner but both missed the chance with no goal scored in first half.






The second half started little more vigorously with Garhwal gelling well putting some more efforts putting opponent on the hard spot and some hard tackling at 64th minute by substitute Shruti, jersey no.18 (substituted for Joyce Larbi at 58th min.) resulted in yellow card against her followed by another at 69th minute against Garhwal player Deepika Pal who was subsequently substituted with Monisha ( Mona – 13) at 70th min. of the game. KFC also substituted their four players in second half.
It was after inclusion of Mona that Garhwal made impact in the game repeatedly dominating opponent’s half and in next ten minute was able in breaking the deadlock through a pass to Mona from midfield who handled it nicely to give an accurate cross to Lhingdeikim(Kim Kipgen-20) near six yard box who made no mistake to head that accurately into the goal, giving one goal lead to her team which they desperately needed. She had also scored a goal in Garhwal’s first match and was declared Player of the match for today’s match. Rest was a formality for GUFC. The match ended 1- 0 in favour of Garhwal. Sanfida Nongrum(10) captained GUFC and Akshay Unni was Coach for the team. The Garhwal has six points from two matches so far in IWL 2025-26.
The match referee, Kusum Mandi was assisted by Abhirami T and Susmita Rai. Fourth official was Ruba Devi G and referee assessor Subrata Das with Arindam Bhattacharyya as match commissioner. Live streaming of IWL 2025-26 football matches is available on the Indian Football You Tube channel.
In other matches played today, Nita FA won against Sesa FA(6-1) at Kolkata, Gokulam 0-4 Sribhumi and Sethu 0-1 East Bengal at Kalyani.
After the completion of Round 1 & Round 2 on 20th December and 24th December, the Round 3 is scheduled on 27th December, 2025 at above venues. The Garhwal United FC will play its next match against East Bengal FC, defending champions, on 27th December, 2025 at Kalyani Stadium which can be watched on You Tube.
