Lt General Gurmeet Singh appointed as Uttarakhand governor. Governors of other states too changed

After the sudden resignation of the Uttarakhand governor Baby Rani Maurya, after just three years of her five year old tenure, retired Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh has been appointed as the new governor of Uttarakhand.

In addition to this new appointment, the president of India has also appointed governors of four states viz Assam, Nagaland, Punjab and Tamilnadu.

Lt General Gurmeet Singh would be the 8 th governor of Uttarakhand during the last 21 years of Uttarakhand coming into existence in the year 2000, whereas the state witnessed eleven chief Ministers till date.

Kindly recall that Uttarakhand is going to polls in the initial months of 2022 and there are speculations that the saffron party which seems to be on a weak wicket is finding new ways and means to impress the voters, the latest appointment from Indian Army of the current governor seems to be a ploy to impress and deviate maximum voters into its fold as in the himalayan state every third family has a member working in Indian Army.

The previous governor’s sudden resignation after her earlier meeting with the Union home minister Amit Shah has raised several eyebrows in the state as well as in the political corridors as nobody was expecting her sudden resignation, who just a few days ago said that she want to serve the Devbhoomi feeling privileged to be it’s governor.

It is believed thatthe outgoing governor Baby Rani Maurya was not in good terms with the state government for the last few months especially after blocking several appointments of Uttarakhand open university by not giving her consent and instead ordering an inquiry into it, allegedly inviting the wrath of the outgoing and present CMs as well as the central leaders including her dictatorial style of functioning in an appointment of a professor of Agra as VC of Kumaon university as well as allocation of bulk printing order of the university to a printer of Agra etc inviting furore n annoyance in the university and among various political party leaders.
