The campaigning of the elections in Delhi have officially cone to an end on Monday 5.00 PM with all the political parties in the fray utilising the last day to the fullest by taking out the final rally in cars, trucks and motorcycles taking rounds of the entire constituency ensuring that they reach to every part of the constituency.
After the official end to the campaign at 5.00 PM, now no poster, pamphlets can be distributed publicly nor Mike’s use for propaganda, nor any public meeting allowed.
From today onwards till fifth, the day of polling the public announcement and propaganda, including public meetings have been stopped.
Anyone violating the norms will be penalised and his or her candidature may be revoked. The election commission staff would be keeping an eye in every constituency of Delhi to see that there are no violations till the polling day.
However, the candidates of various political parties and their activists campaign clandestinely from door to door distributing pamphlets and convincing the voters to vote for them.
A night before the polling some political parties and their leaders also distribute liquor clandestinely include currency notes to influence the voters.
According to sources the Bharatiya Janata Party which is out of power in NCT of Delhi since 1998 has utilised the last day of campaigning to the fullest by organising 22 Road shows and rallies with its senior leaders addressing them and distributing election materials in abundance.
The AAM ADMI PARTY on the fateful day seems to be completely confident of forming their government for the third time.
The Congress party which had ruled in Delhi for fifteen long years till 2013-14 and could not win a single seat during the last two elections has struggled hard this time to make the contest triangular in majority of the constituencies.
The prime minister Narendra Modi, union home minister Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, J.P.Nadda and almost all union ministers , top leaders, chief minister’s of BJP ruled states , Rahul Gandhi, Malliarjun Kharge, Shatrughan Sinha, Pappu Yadav , Harish Rawat , Dr.Harak Singh Rawat and several state leaders of Congress , national convenor of AAP Arvind Kejrival, Bhagwant Mann, Punjab ministers etc have been campaigning hectically till 5.00 PM today.
According to the data from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi, 1.56 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise at 13,766 polling stations on February 5. Of these, 83.76 lakh are men, 72.36 lakh are women and 1,267 are ‘third gender’ voters.
The Election Commission has also launched the ‘Queue Management System’ (QMS) application for the first time in India, through which voters can track the real-time presence of people at the polling stations through the ‘Delhi Election-2025
Under the home voting facility for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, 6,980 out of 7,553 eligible voters have already cast their votes.
This service started from January 24 and will continue till February 4.
To ensure free and fair elections, 220 companies of paramilitary forces, 19,000 home guards and 35,626 Delhi Police personnel will be deployed. Besides this, 21,584 Ballot Units, 20,692 Control Units and 18,943 Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) have been prepared, with provisions for ‘dummy’ and Braille ballot papers.
AAP maintained its dominance in 2020 with 62 seats, while BJP won eight seats and Congress once again failed to open its account.
