Massive stampede at Mahakumbh. No official figure given about possible deaths, several grievously injured !

The stampede at Prayagaraj, Mahakumbh has sent shock waves in the country. According to the latest report this stampede that occured at 2.00 Am when majority of the devotees were sleeping at the Triveni confluence allegedly led to several casualties though the government has not yet revealed about any death case.

However, the latest news reveal that thirty to forty grievously injured have been ferried to hospitals and admitted in ICUs with best possible treatment rendered to them.

There are reports of about ten cores devotees assembled at Prayagaraj and till now about forty crore people have taken a dip in the Ganges at Prayagaraj, Mahakumbh from day one.

People are worried as to why the exact figures of possible casualties are not being reported.

Those who have lost their near and dear ones are in uncontrollable tears and literary dumb, shocked.

Though officially the death figures have not been declared but news are coming in about several deaths by the anguished , traumatized relatives of those who had died.

The crowd at the traumatized site and Triveni confluence is swelling up multiply despite the shocking tragedy. The tragic scene at the Swaroop Rani Hospital and mortuary is unbearable with even mediamen narrating the tales of woes in pain.

There were unconfirmed reports of about twenty deaths in this tragedy with ambulances rushing to mortuary from the Swaroop Rani Hospital and the relatives busy thronging there in anguish and trauma.

Yesterday midnight at 2.00 AM thousands of devotees in view of Moni Amavasya want to have bath at Triveni Sangam the confluence of Ganga , Yamuna and Saraswati rivers.

Thousands of people with their families were sleeping near this Sangam thinking to take bath the next morning. There was massive stampede early morning with People crushing each other and in the stampede people crossing barricades in huff and desperation. There were cries all around. People running uncontrollably crushing each other running helter and skelter to save their own lives, of their children’s and old parents. Hundreds were allegedly crushed, separated from their near and dear ones and running for safety etc.

Meanwhile, the DIG Mahakumbh Mela Vaibhav Krishna has revealed that the situation has been brought under control, the entire area has been sanitised but no-one is talking anything on the exact statistics of the injured and those who met the shocking end. Today is Moni Amavasya and the crowd surge is enhancing at Mahakumbh as this being a pious day everyone wanted to take the dip in the Ganges.

The president Dropadi Murmu after learning about this shocking stampede at Prayagaraj wrote on X : The stampede incident at Prayagraj Maha Kumbh is extremely sad. I express my condolences to the families of the injured devotees and pray to God that all the injured devotees recover soon.

Meanwhile prime minister Narendra Modi while expressing his anguish over this tragedy write on X : The accident that happened in Prayagraj Maha Kumbh is extremely sad. My deepest condolences to the devotees who have lost their loved ones in this. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured. The local administration is engaged in helping the victims in every possible way. In this regard, I have spoken to Chief Minister Yogi ji and I am constantly in touch with the state government said PM Modi.

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has urged people not to spread rumours and assured that the situation is under control. He wrote on X : Maha Kumbh-2025, dear devotees come to Prayagraj,

Take bath at the ghat of Mother Ganga near which you are, do not try to go towards Sangam Nose.

All of you should follow the instructions of the administration and cooperate in making arrangements.

People are bathing peacefully at all the ghats of Sangam. Do not pay any attention to any rumours.

Union Transport and Highways Minister (Minister of State) Ajay Tamta expressed his deep grief over the Mahakumbh accident and said:

The tragic incident of stampede in Mahakumbh is heart-wrenching. In this difficult time, my sympathies are with the affected devotees and their families.
Every possible effort is being made for the speedy recovery of the injured. I pray to Lord Golu Devta to grant peace to the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured said the minister Ajay Tamta.

Meanwhile in another incident a woman was seen badly crying in tears having lost her 1.5 tola Gold chain when someone in the stampede pushed her with immense force.
